This is the REAL DEAL from SOMEBODY who KNOWS what he is talking about.

2F9B separates the men from the boys IMHO when it comes to the higher levels of playing.

If you don't want to listen to the whole broadcast to hear this, listen about the 28 minute mark. :)

and listen closer @ 35 minutes

Good spot to pay close attention to. Keith and the others raise good points and suggestions on how the players that do not show proper etiquette could be policed.

However, I am of the opinion that before it comes to policing being needed the opponent of the player who is acting up should react as soon as it starts.

Over the years I have played in tournaments where this type of behavior from an opponent has come up. In each instance I reacted, in a calm, polite but direct way, indicating that the behavior had to stop. In all cases it did. I find it interesting to see some of the players that I talked to no longer use these antics when playing me, but continue to act up when playing others.

While referees are there to determine if unsportsmanlike conduct is taking place and can issue warnings, give a ball in hand or a disqualification, I prefer it if the opponent is mature enough to just stop the nonsense when told that it is not an acceptable way to act; fortunately, in my experience, they always have.

By the way this is a really good interview. I did not have time right now to listen to it all but will. Thanks to both of you for highlighting these two parts.

There's an X-rated DVD with Keith playing Bushwacker, with Grady Mathews commentating. You have to see *and* hear it to believe it.

A lady came in the booth with Grady whose name escapes me. I want to say Peg Led-something. Anyway, Keith said she was tailgaiting him at every tournament, ready to fine him if he was out of line. Whatever table Keith was playing on, her eyes were right on Keith.

Keith didn't have too many good words to say about her, but I guess the effect was that Keith behaved himself. :grin-square:

I liked Keith's comments on behavior. There is a line and when it's crossed it needs to be dealt with. I felt though that Mark Cantrill's comparison of pool equipment to other sports was a bit off. All professional sports have some degree of variance in equipment. Football fields vary from turf to grass, indoor outdoor, tennis court surfaces vary from grass to clay to synthetic, no two MLB fields are even close to the same etc.
I like some variation, but I agree that the big tournaments should have the best and the toughest equipment out there.

Great segment, I love this show. Nice job by everyone involved.

How much of the fine money went into her pocket? The problem I see with that is twofold. 1 - It can easily turn into sharking the player. 2 - I remember Earl getting booted from a tournament a couple years ago. If I drove to the tournament to watch Earl and he got kicked out for saying something the referee didn't like, that's the last time I go to a tournament at that place. I still believe they targeted Earl because of who hired the referee.

I remember Grady telling a story about a lady fining a player for cursing. I won't repeat the player's name but it went something like this - player missed a ball and cursed, lady fined him $500. "You are fining me $500 dollars? Why don't you make it $1,000 you ****ing *****.

Probably the same lady that used to followed Keith around.

That sounds like a lot of fun to listen to or watch. So when you gonna post it? :)

I asked Pat Fleming for permission, but he said no. Since it is an Accu-Stats, even though it is not in print anymore, I have to abide by Pat Fleming's wishes.

I wish I could because it's pretty strong, probably the funniest pool match I've ever listened to. Even Billy Incardona makes a cameo appearance. :)

Is that a U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship match with Keith playing Moro?

Edit: yes you said he was playing Bushwacker and I read that, I am an idiot.

No, he was playing Bushwacker (Gary Nolan). It's very old.

I will try to do a screen capture and post a picture of Gary and Keith in the match. I don't think Pat Fleming will mind if I do that. Keith's stakehorse was in the booth with Grady, commenting on Keith's behavior during the tournament. Oh, this is a beauty, this one. :grin-square:

In this Accu-Stats X-rated video, both Gary and Keith have long hair, looking very much like Woodstock alumni. ;)

Gary allowed me to snap his photo at a Super Billiards Expo in early 2000s. Very sweet man.

my old road partner Timmy Daniels sent that too me back a few years ago--

Peg Ledman, Jennie.:)

That broadcast was incredible. David, you're doing a great job. How you all pull together such prominent pool people each week, Kudos!

Never before have we been able to have such candid, current information. Listening to Keith was such a treat!

I'd never heard Greg speak before. I will listen again, cause I'm slow on the uptake. :o

Cantrill (bflad) is such a passionate, open book and an entertainer.

The Hard Time owners from Sacramento gave us a vivid look from their position.

Hat's off.

Please put it in your trunk so I can watch next time you give me the orange crush. ;)

I am going to see if this works. I re-recorded the audio only of the very first sentence of the match. It is an MP3 file. I couldn't attach it to this forum's software as an attachment, so I sent it to myself via an FTP. It is very short: 37 seconds. You can download it and hear it. You will soon realize why it's X-rated. :p

I will write to Pat Fleming again and ask if he has this DVD available for sale, or if not, may I please post a portion of the video. I don't want to step on any toes, as I respect Pat and all he has done for the pool world.

Actually, just listening to the match, like a radio broadcast, is just as delicous.
