Just wondering on 60 inch cues are they made for taller players or shorter players to get that extra reach they need? I was playing with one the other day and didn't notice a whole lot of difference opinions would be great thanks everyone

My experience is both... allows shorter players to extend their reach at the table... and allows taller players with greater wingspans to grip the cue at a more natural point relative to the cue's balance point.

Talked to a guy named Lance a few weeks ago at a local tourney....said he loves his cue....he said the biggest advantage he felt was the ability to never use a bridge, even on big tables.....he was around 5'10", said it shot the same but felt the reach was a big advantage....he also said have it made where the butt and shaft are the same length, he had seen cues with longer shafts and they didn't work as well...

He was a damn good player so I took his advice to heart....

I really want one. I have a 76" wing span, to be perpendicular at address I havta hold the absolute back of cue.

You might want to invest some money in a custom cue. Given your wing span, you would probably feel more comfortable with a 62" cue.
And you'd need a custom cue case for cues that long.....JMHO

It's better that the cue is too long, rather than too short.

Have you ever tried to play with just a 29" shaft?

60 inch cues are most popular in the Phillipines, and they are not too many 6 foot+ tall people in the Phillipines.

It does offer more reach, and for the Phillipines it offers more weight which helps on tables that are a little slow due to the humidity.

So, to answer your question.....for tall people, 60 inch cues are closer to the ideal length for them.....for shorter people, 60 inch cues offer more reach.

I have a few inexpensive 60 inch cues from the Phillipines...very nice looking.
If you are interested in buying one from me, PM or email me.

My case (Swift) will hold a cue of that length.

I don't know that I've ever seen a 62" for sale. Besides that, I will be getting a 9' table for my house and having the room for a regulation table and playing with a pole vaulting stick might really command ALOT of space. I think a 60" cue would be fine, I have every intention of getting one.

i built a 63" for a guy on az
he intended to carry it in a golf bag
if i remember correctly, he was about 6'10" with a 7'8" reach

I love my 60 incher

I have tried many times to go back to 58 but I just really love my 60 inch cue
And mine is 30 and 30 also
Thx
Carl

I had Viking custom-make longer shafts for mine, and then Talisman then had to custom-make my first case to accommodate the longer shafts. It allowed me to reach more shots without a bridge. Being 5'1" on a good hair day, the cue was taller than I was, after I had the Limb Saver on it!

Over time though, I figured out that I was sacrificing hand speed that was critical on draw and force follow shots, as well as the break. I had the shafts whittled back down to regular size and I like the feel better.

Gotta ask... huh? Can't figure out how hand speed would be changed by cue or shaft length.

I find I choke up to far with a 60 inch. I dont know why. It just seems to be the case.
I stick with 58 1/2

A 60" cue is good for tall people, and also for those who like to play with a long bridge, like a lot of the Filipino players.

One cue maker that I know won't make a cue longer than 60" because it somehow compromises the structural integrity of the cue. I don't remember the details. Also, a cue longer than 60" isn't going to fit in most standard cue cases. The same is sometimes true with a 60" cue.

I have a 58" Mezz cue with about a 7.5" extension that screws into the bumper, so I rarely have to use the mechanical bridge on a 9" table. It gives me better cue ball control than the bridge does. I want to get a custom 60" cue with about a 12" extension that screws into the bumper.

I am 5'7" and have a 60" cue that I much prefer over any other cue.

I think that you can determine the normal distance that you need for a cue with a tape measure.

If you shoot with your bridge arm straight out and then look at where your rear hand is relative to your bridge hand and the amount of follow through that is normal for you, you will probably know what length cue you need. For my shooting stance a 60" cue is best. With my shooting stance I find that I can usually grip the cue near the balance point with a 60" cue. Then too, I suppose it depends, to some extent on where you are used to gripping the cue stick to have it feel "right."

I had to check your name for a second there thought this was my post. I too have a 76" reach and USED to shoot with a 60" cue. I gave it up and still wonder if made the correct decision.

They did have there benefits but I went back for reason I'd rather not get into.

Yeah we talked about your cues once when you were trying to switch back to 58" from 60" (Josey/Varney). I think we talked about trades at one point and I believe we both had the "ape arms" syndrome, lol.

I've used a 60 inch cue since the mid seventies. I grew up playing snooker and billiards. I'm only about 5'8" and like the extra reach. I just got used to it. I've tried some very nice 58" sticks, even bought a couple, but I stiil like the feel of the extra 2". I ordered an OB1 at the DCC and Royce is making it 30" to match my 30" butt. I'm looking forward to receiving it (Like a kid in a candy store!) LOL

I have a 29" Predator that I really like, but I think I might like the OB1 even more.
