I bought a new Diamond Pro Am 9’ table with light and chairs almost 6 years ago. My table has always played kind of slow. After recently playing on another 9’ Diamond Blue Label Pro Am I realized my table had about 80% of the speed of a normal Diamond table. Hats off to Brian and the guys Diamond Billiards who worked with me on a sensible remedy for my table. There are only a few great table mechanics in SoCal. Lucky for me Steve L was available to replace my rails and cloth. Steve is the best. His attention to detail and care for the Diamond brand is evident. I’m completely happy with my table now that it plays like I expect a Diamond Pro Am should.

Awesome that your table plays the way you want now!

May I ask was it the new design Blue label rails and Artemis cushions before the fix? Or the old red label rails? What did the mechanics do to fix it?

Thanks.

Artemis cushion rubber defective.....? I’m not buying it...
There is not much of a way to say the table is playing perfect by judgement after a fresh recover... the balls are going to slide around, the banks will play long and the speed of the cloth will seam fast... the truth to how the table plays is after quite a bit of play...so to say the table plays perfect just after a recover is a bit of a understatement...
The procut pockets are 4-1/2... to reduce the pocket by 1/8 of a inch, that would be each extending end of the rails by 1/16th of a inch....I’m not buying that either...... I’ll assume he used 1/4inch facings rather the the 3/16ths facings used from the factory.

Enjoy’

Congrats Martin...... Steve did my CG and its defective too. Even though the pockets are huge at 4 1/4" .... balls never go in :(

Enjoy the table man!!

Did Steve install the Artemis with canvas on top or bottom?

Just asking.
Thnx

To Diamond specs. Rail height is precise and consistent. Rails are responsive now. 3/16” facings. Artemis Intercontinental rubber cushions from my table were shipped back to Diamond. All is well, finally.

How much you betting?

Has Artemis been known for entire tables worth of defective rubber?
I can understand a bad section on one rail, but their quality control should've caught an entire batch.

And how was it defective?
Too hard? Dried out and cracked?

Im always interested in these little facts. I'm about a month away from getting a diamond that has been in storage for a couple of years after being used in the 2014 US Open. So all of this is not wasted info.

Probably a combination of factors but rails lacked normal responsiveness. Had rail bolts torqued previously and there was no improvement. I’ll leave further analyses for others. My table is playing correctly after Steve’s excellent work. Now I can get back to enjoying the table I paid for.

Martin's table

The table plays great now, the cushions and a few other things helped the speed of the table. Artemis are good cushions but do not think they will last forever. They do go bad over time just like any other cushion. This table has Diamond factory facings on it, 3/16". All that matters is that Martin is happy with his table now.

Dang! I thought Artemis would last some 10 years before going bad.
But, all is well that ends well.

Steve is a great table mechanic imo. My 9' Pro-Am, one piece slate, Diamond was installed by Big Glen about six or seven years ago. The Red Label rails and cushions were replaced with the Blue Label by Donny Wessels of West State Billiards about three years ago, and Steve re-leveled the table a few months ago. I've been fortunate to have all good people work on my table and it plays good and tough, with 4.25" pockets.
