A message from Emily Duddy to all pool players

IMO if that's what the do for a living... That's their profession.
Does not mean they're at the top but that's their profession .
Why it offends people I have no idea. Pool has a pecking order among
professionals and if you happen to beat one in a long race then you can say you beat such and such who happens to be a professional.
Why people give a flying sh1t I have no clue

Rodney Morris plays just as good as anyone, I'm not sure why he isn't mentioned as much. Someone posted on Face Book yesterday that he had beat Shane the last 5 out of 6 times. And Johnny and Earl obviously play the same speed, Earl just finished 2nd in a big 10 Ball tournament in Sweden a few days ago and is in the final three of another 9 Ball tournament today with Mika and Marcus. Shane is a great player, but he's by no means in a class by himself and neither is Dennis or Bustemante. On a given day these players can all beat each other, no one has the "nuts" unless they have some kind of "home table" advantage.

well said.

That's not a big statement. That's about like me or you saying we play better than 99.9% of poolplayers in the world. (which is also most likely true if you can make a ball)

i do not play better than 99.9% of Players- That means only 1 out of 1000 players can beat me. It's true for Jen, not for me and I have no idea about you.

I have never seen Emily hit a ball so I am not going to comment on her speed. If she wants to post a video of her playing rather than pics of her in lingerie, it won't get as many views but should give more insight to the public that she wants to impose her thoughts on to her true ability.

The WPBA is unfortunately pretty much a dead entity with what, 3 tournaments in 2012 and the site promoting a $1500 added event as a WPBA event in 2013. This won't bring out too many of the top players and doesn't give much data for ranking/comparision purposes.

Tap, Tap, Tap.

LOl...Sorry, I was kinda making light of your statement. It is a ridiculous one if taken in the wrong perspective. I mean what do you consider a poolplayer is the same as what do you consider a pro! If we are talking about anyone who ever plays a game recreationally, or competitively is a pool player, then yes we are both in that top .001%. And yes she would be better than 99.9& of female poolplayers...because 99.9% of females in the world wont make 2 balls in a row with ball in hand.
It is no different than the fact that I can walk into any po-dunk redneck bar in the US, and 99.9% of the time, I know I am the best player in the room no matter how many people are in there, because 99.9% of the world can't make 2 balls in a row.

Well, if nobody knew who Emily Duddy was before, they sure do now. :yes:

Good shot, Emily! :clapping::clapping::clapping:

That and a pretty dress makes you #20 in the world! Allright this horse has been beat to death. Emily, you keep on swinging girl. All the best.

It's just barking. Mean spirited, name calling, you-can't-play-as-good-as-... barking. It's cyclical, and they will change their focus to someone else sooner or later and then that new person will be the target of internet hatred and rage for a few weeks and a hundred threads.

How dare an attractive woman who plays pretty sporty be a professional? We must crush her tiny spirit! Crush it! To the keyboard!

...Oh look, Kamui chalk has a QPod?! You know that could damage the rails!!!!! GOREDENGINE GOREDENGINE GOREDENGINE!!!!

well you should go on the road and get some of that free money out there.

NO thanks. I have a great life, and no desire to go "on the road"! And yes there is plenty of free money out there. But I realized one thing a while ago, poolplayers life generally don't include happy families. Travelling the country, living in hotels, trying to survive in a sport where there is no guaranteed income, and no benefits or retirement plans.
I will once again use an old quote..." you show me a champion poolplayer, and I will show you a wasted life!"....Steve Mizerak

Earl can wear hip waders, elbow pads and infra-red goggles and these chicks can't wear what they want?

Honestly, who cares. If these girls want to declare themselves pro --- who does it hurt? If you don't like it, ask'm to play some and test your conviction. If you win, you'll probably make a thread about it - if you lose, I'm sure we'll never hear about it.

Happy Easter!!

Well, if nobody knew who Emily Duddy was before, they sure do now. :yes:

Good shot, Emily! :clapping::clapping::clapping:

Ma'am,

I hope you and your man are having a wonderful one. You got straight to the point and started my Easter morn off with a genuine laugh out loud chuckle! After being up past three I am just checking e-mail and a few things before going whittle on a piece of spalted oak I am playing with. What was the first thread I opened to see what people were still bickering over? You guessed it!

I have to say I was a pro player now and then years ago. If I didn't win I didn't eat, drink, or pay mortgages on my home and commercial property and the usual bills associated with such things. I would never call myself better than a shortstop on my best day by my ratings but I didn't go hungry and never made a late payment while trying to rival Keith in the beer drinking category.

ill always support the women players, always have and always will, but saying you are marketing yourselves for the sport is BS, you market yourself, and thats good and you should if you can. and ive met baretta, shes very cold to most people, so most people will hate. Allison Fisher and Karen Corr have always been respected bc of their ability to play, people rarely hate on them. Anyway, hang in there, the only way to shut most haters up is by showing them not telling them.

When people say pro in female pool they mean it much more in the sense of like when someone graduates college and gets a job in that field so they are a professional. There's no wpba draft. Even in the nba or nfl ppl like to talk about LeBron or Brady but there's a guy on the bench one spot away from the practice squad that makes league minimum. He's also a pro baller. So I don't have much a problem with the pro term just keep in mind what it can mean. Guy I went to high school with plays overseas in the chinese league...he's a pro basketball player and lebron would shit on him
