There is always a product behind an image. Something to physically buy. What is it? Is Emily try to do exhibitions?

I'm guessing she is selling herself and trying to create a brand such as Jeanette Lee has done. The "product" could be anything down the line such as exhibitions, sponsorship, etc. More power to her and if it doesn't work then she want have any products to associate with her brand.

Funny how the internet imitates real life.

Someone can walk into a room or a website in several different ways. When one chooses to enter with an aggressive, capitalized, manner, and calling out the entire audience it doesn't usually end up well for them. Chances are that person will even alienate many of his/her former fans. Whereas entering humbly (but confidently) and thanking people for their support will do just the opposite...by gaining additional fans.

Actors are usually happy to get press, any kind of press. They say that they don't care what the headlines say, so long as it's about them. They believe that all publicity is good publicity.

I don't recall anything ever being written that was either disrespectful or outright nasty towards the original poster, just a difference in people's opinion of her pool playing level, in fact, if I recall correctly, everyone acknowledged that she played well and was an asset to the game. What I did immediately feel was an overly aggressive opening post protesting the fact that everyone here didn't agree that she played at the level she thought she did. That happens all the time, it's a non-issue and didn't require a dedicated, call out, thread, especially one initiated by the player herself. IMO.

No disrespect here, and good luck to you.

J

Women are Beautiful

I would pay to see Shane, Francisco and Efren play pool.
The Magician shows you the Beauty of how Pool is played.

I would pay to see Emily for her Beauty.
Not for her Pool skills.

I can't help it I was born this way........grin....

Her image for one. She's a young beautiful woman that's dedicated.
Being a face... And a nice one at that in the pool marketplace leaves her options wide open. Companies will want to be associated with her and her image. Product endorsements will arise if she keeps up the hard work.
Best of luck to her

You can't please everybody...nobody can. Hang in there, okay?

I agree...tuff it out, cinderelly.

The population size of azb is large enough that every topic that is discussed will see folks exhibit pure hatred and love, and every combination in between.
Focus on the negative, if you want.

And population sample accuracy increases with its size.

Im with you on this, most of the people offending are repeat offenders on every topic. It's not just you and the girls , they are blatantly disrespectful to any high profile players... Even CJ and he's a champion. What I'm saying is don't feel like your singled out because they dont respect boundaries with anyone. I do however feel that Borana should should refrain from trying to humiliate players such as Dechaine . That in itself was in poor taste and provokes people to return the favor. That kind of publicity is bad for the sport also. Good luck and you've got good people in your corner.

Aww shit!

Somebody can dish it out/ can't take it , eh?!?!

The player's that have been attacked the most in these forums are Myself (Emily Duddy), Borana Andoni, and Jennifer Barretta.

Make no mistake about it. No one is lumping Jennifer Barretta in with you. Its clear that she has a level of skill at this game that you don't. As for Borana, she's taken some heat in the past, sure. But to be honest, it seems like these days, Borana just lays low and focuses on her pool game and LESS about whether or not people consider her a "pro" (as it should be). And to be honest Emily... that's all ANY of this was ever about.

No one's saying you don't have talent. No one is "hating" because they're "jealous". People are just saying: Worry less about whether the public perceives you as a pro and MORE about actually getting your game to pro level, because it clearly isn't there yet. Not saying you don't have skill or talent. You're better than a LOT of players out there. But... you're not pro speed yet. Spend less time lumping yourself in with the likes of Jen Barretta and MORE time trying to get your game to where hers is.

Its not 'hating'. Its called 'reality'.

Keeping it real..... Good post! WPBA "pro's" can do all the photo shoots they like, I'll be impressed when, and if, they play like Karen Corr. Karen isn't doing any photo shoots but she runs out like a beast.

We had a WPBA pro here in the early-mid 90's that was consistently ranked #6-8 in the WPBA, she quit pool after a 19-20 year old Bartram gave her the 6 ball and beat her out of like 20 games.

I think 90% of any legitimate pro would get out from here.

Shoot, I think 75% of APA 6's get out from here.

No fair

That's a Chinese table!

Did we get bad shape on the 6?

If Emily comes to the SBE pit I will bet on her. Running a 10 pack is the only way to quiet the naysayers. Haters just hate.

So she botched the out because it was a Chinese table???

A 10-pack isn't going to happen anytime soon for Emily, or for 99.999999% of the other pool players out there, including me.

I wish her luck - she's trying. But I also wish she'd let her stick do the talking and go easier on the self-promotion - like this thread, which has been going on since Herbert Hoover was in the White House. (And yes, I realize I just perpetuated it).

You could say that but you might get labeled a hater.

In all honesty, getting out from the 5 should have been easy. But... mistakes happen. You get bad rolls. You hit a ball poorly. Happens to EVERYONE!!!!

But the real testament to Emily's skill was how she rebounded (this shot above - post 156). Instead of doing the obvious... pushing the 6 one rail and rolling the cueball up onto the 8 for a perfect safe, she sells out trying some ridiculous bank. Any pro level player in a world event would play the safe without thinking. What she did shouldn't have even have been viewed as an option.

As for the guy who said "chinese table", I applaud you. It was easily the dumbest comment made on this forum in a looooong time. And given Nick Serdula posts here, that's no small feat. So congrats!

It looked like she was playing the 6-8 combo!

Chinese tables roll really slowly. Wouldn't know, I don't play internationally much.

If you watched the match, she doesn't play the 6-8 combo. That would have been a poor choice to play if she HAD played for that shape deliberately, which she didn't. But even still, a better option compared to what she did. Instead, she tries to bank to 6 off the side rail into the opposing corner.:confused::confused:
