My son and I are heading to Poland for the world junior 9 ball championships. His Name is Jeff Robson, Canadian jr 9ball champion. We decided to make a little vacation of the trip. So we are landing in Paris France then taking the train through 3 countries to get to Poland. We will site see by day and look for pool rooms by night. We are looking for some soft action if possible, or just nice tables for practice. Any advice or match-ups will be greatly appreciated. The following is our itinerary:
-Aug 26th Paris, France.
- 27th Brussels, Belgium.
- 28th Frankfurt, Germany.
- 29th Praha (Prague), Czech Republic.
- 30th Kielce, Poland.
Thanks in advance.

Take a lot of Euro's and sleep / eat cheap.

Learn some simple French phrases, as in,
ou est la maison de pipi.
Where is the house of Pee Pee. It is always good to know where the wash rooms are.
And if you can't find Ou est maison de pipi, you can say, je chie dans mon froc. I s hit my pants.

If you are hungry in the morning you can always order a cheese omelet.
Omelet du fromage.

And most importantly:
vous avez de beaux seins
You have nice breasts.

I wouldn't expect much "action" on a road trip thru Europe. Unless you want to play champions like Marcus Chamat. What you'll find are lots of people looking to play friendly games of pool against foreigners like you. Treat it as an opportunity for your son to improve his game and you'll have a good time. Save your money to see the sights, sounds like a great trip!

This is a good phrase to know if you are playing pool in Paris.
je peux mettre qa boule de billard dans vos fesses

remember to post pictures for us!

Every place is different. In Nice and Paris, no one was interested in gambling- they almost found the idea offensive (except Cohen- he was friendly and willing!). In Amsterdam they had a free table available for it. Haven't been to Germany but several pros seem to have taken long sabbaticals there.

Do as much research as possible before you go. Read everything you can. It's a pity to learn about the history and local wonders of a place after you've already been- leaves a wistful, sad feeling.

Keep a friendly open mind, wear your money and passport under your clothes, and above all:

Don't learn any French from Blue Hog Rdr!!!!!!

dognit26...No doubt I am in the minority, but I find it sad that you feel the need to put your son "in action", when his job is to represent his country in the world jr. championships. If you are caught gambling in the US Jr. Nationals you get kicked out. I would hope it would be the same way at the world tournament. Why not just enjoy the sights and sightseeing. He may never get to see those places again in his life. Best of luck to your son in the tournament.

Hi Scott, I appreciate your views. Maybe you read me a little wrong. I don't have a need to put my son in action. He is 18 yrs old. When I say soft action, to us that is a friendly game. Not looking to pay for the trip. And he really would like to stay in stroke for the tournament. And he will not be breaking any rules at the tournament. Including gambling. Where did you get that from?

Thanks Jay, hope to meet lots of people for friendly games. We are not going there to try and hustle the people. Just want to stay in stroke mostly. And of course see the sights.

Walk into a pool hall and say:
Chacun obtient ici les six à l'extérieur.

Frankfurt...

You hit it right on the spot:

exactly that weekend there will be a big amusement right at the river Main in Frankfurt.
We go there for years and there's lot's of live music, good food and cheap entry into the row
of 10+ museums and gardens at the river (and more in the city).
Make sure to book your hotel asap because at that weekend Frankfurt will be crowded.
