All you Johnny lovers

Johnny owns the Marietta Billiards Club in Marietta, GA. He is in there shooting quite frequently.... I see him most Thursdays that I'm in there. He's very friendly and will talk to anyone.

If these burning questions that you have need to be answered, take a flight or car ride and I'm sure he will answer.

Glad to hear he has faith in blownup ball.

You get down on him for not answering questions on here, what makes you think he even reads the forums?

Excellent point and this thread is a probably indictitive of why more top touring pros don't bother with this forum. With the propensity to bash and be combative why would they bother??? UFR. :frown:

When i said JA knew BB was a failure waiting to happen. He shouldn't promote a game he knew was a failure because he's a roll model to MANY aspiring players you all pretty much told me to shut up JA is the best BLAH BLAH BLAH. How come people are asking him questions on here and he's not answering ANY of them. He's a dirt bag just like his buddy charlie williams

You would have a somewhat valid point if bonus ball or Johnny did something unethical, but I don't believe that is the case. Johnny was hired, basically, to help promote a business. Whether he believe it was going to fail or not does not matter. He was paid to do a job. If he was paid to do something unethical or if the people trying to get bonus ball to work was unethical then you might could call him a dirty bag. I think you guys ragging on bonus ball and the players that tried to promote it are in some other fantasy world. How I see it, they tried to promote pool, albeit in a different form, but none the less, pool. If you wanted state that they screw the investors, well that's just that. Investing, nothing is guaranteed, I don't think they conned these people out of money to dump it into the players pockets.

How many of us would go to a job that only paid 25% of their workers?

reminds me of this one;

"the road to success is always under construction"

:groucho:

Yes, that's right, and that "road" keeps a lot of people from ever drinking the waters of success. I've been in large scale businesses long enough that if something isn't going wrong it's unusual. This is just something that keeps you in the positive, action mode, ready to "make that next tough shot".

The fact of the matter is, there will always be cloudy days, sunny days and days that have storms that may even kill innocent people.....this is life, this is reality. The question is: "Does it keep you from going outside to pursue a better day?"

I don't blame the players for giving Bonus Ball a try, it's better than the current scenario where you go to tournaments that only pay 25% of the field and only 1% of the players in the world can possibly make a living.

How many of us would go to a job that only paid 25% of their workers? 'The Game is the Teacher'

Are you sure about the 1%? I am thinking it is much less than that.

you have to spend money,
to make $$$$$$.

but when you're tapped,
you have to cut your losses & go on.

I have to kinda disagree with you here CJ. The people who consistently do not get in the money may be in the wrong job. Maybe if you are not in the top 25% and you continue to go to work (Maybe for experience) Then that is each persons choice but if you go to your job and you are consistanly not making money and continue to go I don't think you can complain about it, you know what to expect.
I don't like to bash Bonus Ball but you can't bring that up and say " it's better than the current scenario where you go to tournaments that only pay 25% of the field and only 1% of the players in the world can possibly make a living" Because we have to remember in this case the players didn't get paid. In a lot of cases it may have actually cost them money. Just my 2 cents

While that may be true, he has been a member since 2004 and that was his 6th post. Doesn't exactly seem like he is checking in twice a day to make sure he knows what is happening on AZB. :)

I understand that he only has 6 posts, i noticed it when he posted and i cant say i blame the guy. But as to how much he READS on here, thats something only he can answer.

...so at some point the fish must ban together in unity so they have a chance

75% of the players in EVERY tournament don't get paid....this is even worse. ;)

If only the top 25% of the players went to the tournaments only 25% of them would get paid.....and on and on and on....there's absolutely no upside in this scenario, simply the big fish eat the smaller fish......there's no potential for growth in a cannibalistic system of business......until the "fish" no longer exist.

...so at some point the fish must ban together in unity so they have a chance of survival.

{being guaranteed 75% of the time to} not get paid in EVERY TOURNAMENT.

Are you sure about the 1%? I am thinking it is much less than that.

You are right, of course, and I stand corrected. I just felt uncomfortable stating the actual percentage of 000.0001%

It's like the Twilight Zone reading that getting guaranteed money from Bonus Ball with a risk of not getting paid a few weeks is worse than {being guaranteed 75% of the time to} not get paid in EVERY TOURNAMENT......am I missing something or is this naive?

I went to Tunica and saw this with me own eyes, the players are getting nothing, yet their images are being used for FREE to promote other business agendas ie: Streaming Video, Leagues, Cues, Tables, etc.

This would NEVER happen in any other sport or game, and it's not going to continue much longer in pool either...it simply can't, the players are being crushed.:smash:

I think Accu-Stats "Make It Happen" events are something great that started this year.

Players got expenses and played for cash each and every match.

Last week Danny Harriman had a bad start but won 2 matches late in the double round robin. Finished last and he collected 1500 and could pocket all of it.
Thorsten won it with a 6-2 record. 4500 for 6 wins and 1500 in bonus runs of 100+.

The fans are the main contributers here and I for one thank them so very much for the support. They do get a nice package for it and everyone is happy to be invoved.
They also get a chance to win 1000 in a selecting contest "the Knock Out Challenge".

And Pat and crew do the footwork and there is alot of it. Even provided transportation for the players to and from airport and lodging.

This thing works !

Actually it's a blast from the past when round robin format was going strong.

I know alot of people out there hope that this comes back next year, all over again !!!

point!

and i believe that this is what Johnny intended to do last summer.

what i don't get, is how it could have possibly fallen apart? forget the dumbass business plan that was destined. but how could ALL-LLLL of that so-called $,$$$,$$$, have just disappeared w/in 2 weeks of Opening?

i would have thought that all involved, would have had contracts & a "ünion" (players') attorney.

if they weren't united BEFORE, they'd better get united NOW.

First of all, no professional owes anyone an answer on this forum regarding anything. If providing answers suits them, they will, and if not, they won't.

Second of all, Johnny Archer has always had our game's best interests at heart. If his efforts have occasionally been misguided, so what? Nobody is squeaky clean, but Johnny is one of those that have made a lot of effort to advance pool.
