American World Straight Pool Champion 2009?

Where is this legit question that you asked??. Is it invisible?? You basically said that Max should not get help because he does not post on here and help the players.

Show me where I said "he should not get help," please.

And, just to make it really easy on you, I'll repost, in their entirety, what I think are the two pertinent posts: (To make it super easy on you, I've also highlighted the "invisible" questions for you :-)

Ya know...

You're a great player and part of me wants to say bestest of luck, I hope you find a sponsor here, and all that.

And part of me -- after looking at all 14 of your posts in over two years as an AZ member and not finding a single post that remotely approaches helping other board members with a tip, a suggestion, a shot explanation, an aiming system(?!), a trip report, or at least an entertaining story from your tournament experiences or matching up -- just wants to say, "eh."

I don't know. Maybe you're a regular on the "Ask the Pro" AZ forum and I just missed it.

Maybe not.

you should never come
to the tribal camp fire
and ask for help
empty handed

Scott, like I said, I'm kinda stradling the fence on this. OTOH, I completely agree with you. But part of me believes that if you're going to come to the group and ask for financial assistance, you should, at some level, be a functioning (read:contributing) member of the tribe, if for no other reason than getting a more favorable outcome.

Just as a general issue, everyone rails against the treatment of pros here and moans about why they don't participate more; how they are driven away; etc. etc; along with much beating of the collective chest. But, if as you say, the pros here aren't contributing much in the first place, what do they really bring to the AZ discussion table? What are we really losing if they don't hang here? I guess not much then, except for their occasional passing of the hat.

Everyday, all the amateurs here bat a slew of interesting and intriguing and down right silly ideas and issues concerning pool, back and forth and then, just for good measure, back and forth a few more times. But wouldn't it be great if these pros, whom everyone seems to long to have a round, actually contributed something to the discussions and could take the give and take that goes with intelligent people having divergent and valid view points on the same subject?

Just my 2cents.

so with lou's 2 cents what is the total up to ! :nanner:

Moron

What a moron.

anything but, actually.

A cursory reading of any of his posts will disclose a very well spoken individual with a very good grasp of the English language. While you may not agree with him, I can't see how the word "moron" could be appropriate.

Thanks, Dennis.

Also, glad to see you're backing a player who posts here, too :-)

Max, I am always helping pool players and were it not for one of my best friends playing I would be glad to give some support. Based on that I do wish you the best of luck - for second place

(geez, what part of "balancing act" don't you get?)

Anywhos, I'm not like you at all -- I am backing a player in this endeavor, in the hope that he qualifies. He's going to Chicago to play in a qualifier and I'm paying for his car, gas, hotel, entry fee, and expenses. I'm even letting him take his wife along and am paying her expenses too.

He even participates here a lot, posting here under the handle of lfigueroa, and though he's a bit rusty at 14.1, he used to be pretty good at it ;-)

I still don't get the whole hate Max thing but I'm not mad at you. Like I said, I liked you in the Hulk. I have two questions, do you still work out and do you think you could get governor Arnold Whatshisname's autograph for me? That would be cool.

thank lou !

for seeing the humor, thank you much. it's all good.;)

by the way, good luck in the tournament lou.

Show me, please, where ANYONE "hates" Max?

Black Balled Put me down for a 100 if you are still taking stakers. PM me if I am in on this or not. I am hoping to get in because I think it is a good propisition.

Max, I hope you start posting here whether it is technical stuff or road stories or whatever. This AZ site gets stale with some of the haters but there are some dedicated pool lovers on here to so don't worry too much about the negative vibe it happens on a web forum.

In closing Good Luck Max

Dennis...You are the MAN! :D Sorry, I was right in the middle of posting a thank you to you, and my computer crashed. I've just spent the last 6 hours, getting it fixed (with the EXTREMELY competent help of AzB poster IT Guy & G-Girl...if you have computer problems, they can fix it! Thanks Jim & Germaine!). Thanks for joining the backer group. I have you down for $100.

Scott: Times are tough but put me in for a hondo and let me know where and when to send it. I watched some tapes of Max from 2006 and saw him trying the Straight Pool Challenge at DCC and he seems like an interesting guy.

Running total, so far

Phew! I've had to endure the last six hours being offline here, as I was getting my and my wife's computers fixed. Anyone who needs online help, in that area need look no further than IT Guy, here on AzB! They did a great job, and helped me keep my lifeline going!

Now, on to the good news! Thanks to many generous "backers", we have currently we raised over $1800, towards getting Max to the tournament. We're still trying for $900 more, to make sure everything gets covered. I have spoken with Max today, and he assures me that if he doesn't have to use all the funds, they will be refunded to us. Remember too, that we can avoid Paypal fees by selecting "money owed" or "other", when using Paypal to transfer funds. This works fine, as long as your Paypal account is funded, or connected to a verified bank account! AzB has it's own horse in this race now...and we are rounding the bend, headed for the finish! We're hoping to raise the additional funds within the next 24 hours, to make sure everything clears, in time to get Max out there in time! Once again, here is the Paypal information:

If you need to send a check or money order or cash, I would ask that you iron out those details with Max for the sake of time. If you wish to talk to Max, please call him, at 323-445-8838. Max's email is: max@maxeberle.com, and his website is: www.maxeberle.com.
Anyone needing more information can also pm me, or call me anytime, day or night...773-551-7473. If you wish to participate anonymously, we have that option available, and your privacy WILL be respected! :D

We're almost THERE folks! With just a little more help, we'll be over the top, and our player can relax a little, and focus on the tournament ahead!

Thanks again to everyone who has joined the Mad Max Backer Fund group!

GO MAX!
