Another bad experience from Meucci

Mezz'd up,
Thanks for your post. You were polite in giving members a "heads-up" concerning Meucci Cues. Posts like yours does not look good for Meucci.

In the last two weeks, I received two semi-custom cues (from two different cue makers, and neither one was Meucci) without any problems. I don't know what if feels like to be in your shoes. I hope the issues are resolved in your favor.

Sad end to what was once one of the leading American cue companies. Wish Bob would take his knowledge and get hooked up with a company as a designer/engineer. Running a company has never been his strong suit.

With Bob designing cues for a successful cue company I would buy stock in plastics.

Once again AZ has another thread about bad service from a cue maker famous for bad service. I have only one question. Why the hell do people do business with a business known for poor quality, lousy customer service and overall bad quality all around? I'll never understand it. With so many better options available in cue makers I find it amazing. I am sure we will see this over and over again..

I know, I know it's brought on by technology - a new pro shaft used by a few pro's Max Eberle, Cory Deuel and a few others. And as Max says in YouTube - Bob's back, so I gave them a chance. Stupid mistake.

You never get this from Caroline with Mezz. You can ask her a question and if she doesn't know, she will find out and get back to you right away.

Must be an insane place to work. One cue comes out perfect and the next one is just pretty firewood. A buddy just bought a HOF-1 w/Pro shaft and it is very well made and plays awesome. Cust. serv. on the other hand, is a joke. I called them once and i thought i was talking to Jethro on the "Bev. Hillbillies". Could barely speak english much less answer a cue-related question. Gave-up so i emailed them and never heard back. They probably don't know what a computer is.

Yes and no organizational skills what so ever! Good for you for not giving them any business.

Custom cuemakers are good for 3-4 threads a year about screwing people ....no different in my book.

Why on gods green earth would you switch from Mezz to Meucci???! Lol

Meucci still rides high on the 80's hype. I have a hard time seeing why people buy Meucci cues, horrible designs, terrible shafts and cues that warp, inlays that pop or come loose etc. Not a big fan of the 5/16-18 pin either.
If you like cheesy designs, your much better off with a Lucasi, McDermott or even Viking.

I find this sad and frustrating.

Great name, great maker historically.

We saw Viking go down, out of business, and come back. Meucci could come back. I hope they don't have to go out of business, I hope they can stay and pull it out.

I really do support the US makers and cheer for them to stay.

We have seen a lot of this kind of thing from Meucci. How and why it has happened I will not pretend to know. But I do hope they turn it around. I really do.

Instead of hoping Bob moves to designing for somebody else, I think I would hope for an infusion of new and younger blood at Meucci. Not knowing what is going on means I may really be off base, but it seems to me that might be what they need.

I do dig the old Meucci cues. I have only one. There are several I would like to own. I have no illusions of owning one newer than the mid eighties though. I hope that changes. I want to want a Meucci.

For what it's worth, I am cheering for a US cuemaker, a US company, and I am wishing Bob Meucci the best because he earned it over the course of decades.

We lost Huebler because there was nobody to take over the shop. Why? That does not really matter now. It's too late...he is gone....

I agree
They really should implement a new strategy with new employees and take feedback from customers on their service. I played with Meucci religiously for the first 4-5 years of playing pool and was very proud of owning the cues I had. When I had issues with de-lamination in the black dots and warping in the red dot shafts I was ignored by them and would then have to pay 70-80 dollars just to have the replacement shipped out. I've played with their pro shafts and they play pretty nice but after switching to Mezz after trying out various products I'll never go back to Meucci unless some sort of epiphany happens around that shop and they figure out that a little bit o urgency serving customer issues may turn into more sales.

It is a sad state of affairs

I was a meucci Fan for years when I first began playing seriously in the 80s . I still own three meuccis but the youngest of them is 27 years old produced in 1990 , the other two are Meucci originals . I have had a few of their cues produced in the late 90s and early 2000s and they were absolutely horrible . the quality seemed to go further and further down while prices went through the roof . these days I wouldn't touch a new meucci with a ten foot pole

Tap tap tap tap...!

Once I bought 17 new cues from Meucci
all 17 were warped

they would not return the money even though the
cues were unhit

finding a straight cue is like looking for a needle in a haystack

I will never buy another one,Meucci himself was active then
my thoughts are that he is the problem

A lot of the old ones were good cues. Especially the very early ones but it's a no brainer as to why. They were a much smaller operation and focused more on quality and less quantity. In my opinion Meucci will be one of the first production cue companies to go under if they stay on the path they are on. There are too many other options in the production cue category that have better quality standards, better customer service, and I'm assuming are using better technology to assure they provide a decent quality product.
Predator, Mezz, McDermott to name a few.

Prices of new Meucci cues are outrageous for the quality. They aren't cheaper than the rest of the production companies and in all honesty the custom maker is a much better option once you get talking in the 800-1000 dollar range. I would imagine for the rest of my life I will continue to see a ton of Meucci cues being played in the leagues and bars. Most of those were sold in the 80's and 90's...... I for one don't see many new Meucci's and doubt for the prices of them and word like this going around I will.

What a shame...... most players who look at Meuccis like they are junk don't have a clue what Bob himself did for cue making over the last 50 years.

So last week in conversation with the Manager Barb - she lets me know the Accountant was fired along with a shipper. As they were stealing from the company.

She states - now we do not have anyone that knows how to process your refund to your CC card.

R U KIDDING, coming from a manager, manager of what...LOL!!!!

Manager of a mess!!

I have a Meucci sneaky pete that was bought in about 1991 or 1992 and it is still a great playing cue and straight as can be. I have had the ferrule cut down on it to about one inch which improved it a bit too(firmer hit).

All the newer Meucci's I have seen are crap!

Dean,

If you wait long enough, they will warp 360 degrees and become straight again.

Then sell 'em.

Hope this helps!
