Another way to get the LD

LD Shaft

My hats off to this new shaft. I had a chance to check out Don's (The Coats) new one mated to an old JW. Wood selection was first rate. At least AA, if not AAA grade maple. The taper was impressive, smooth and flowing with no breaks. Back end finish was first rate as well. On the table it responded well to whitey and felt solid. I played a rack and missed one ball, having never used one before. If seemed very adaptable with little or no adjustment using english. It played like a great shaft should to me.

Hey Ralf, for your CA$H cue! I spent all day in the shop working on these shafts, very gratifying to work on these for our customers. Thanks for the orders. I hope more members here give our new shaft a try. Thanks

For godzilla! But it will fit the volcano too.

For everyone else reading, PM me and get on the list for our new shafts!

I had to do it. I saw this thread and also saw a pic of a BB that was ferruless and I had to go and cut the ferrule and tenon off of one of my shafts.

The OP is right. It does have less deflection. It hits just like an OB, but to me, better because it is more pure. It is all wood and just a little piece of leather. You have nothing interfering with the tip and the wood.

To me, I am not an LD man however. I enjoy using deflection. It is more advantageous to me. I am an ivory man, but for those who are fans of LD, this is definitely something you should give a try!

We have been working on our own ferrule-less LD shaft and have been successful. Knowing there was a lot more to this type shaft than just gluing a tip on the end of some shaft wood, we experimented with several configurations until we got the desired effect. We use straight and tight grained Maple instead of laminates, and it works quite nicely. You can now get one for any CA$H cue,and any cue except those with a UNILOC joint. $250 each, matched to your ring work slightly more. Let's have a look:
