anyone else have video proof of making this shot?

Watched Bob play in Fargo. He can really play. I am sure people had lighter pockets when he left. He knows the game

...
The owner steered me into a six- or seven-handed partners game that I had never played before with the local sharp-shooters and I had to get lucky to escape with bus fare.

lol...yeah, pretty much impossible to prove the impossible.

i've offered a freeroll to locals....noone has taken it.

i'm not gonna go crazy....but i'd be glad to pay to see it...but pretty much guarantee it would have to be in person. any payment against video proof would have to stand a bunch of my ridiculous scrutiny.

I don't understand the point you are trying to make. You linked to two videos where Bob made the shot. Do you think they were fake or something?

There are no other videos out there because its a HARD shot, that requires a skilled player to make, that requires an hour or more to make it, and a video camera for us to see it on the internet. So that simply means its not likely you will see anyone else attempt this.

I don't know if I had a point other than just sharing how badass that shot was.

I knew there were going to be people piping in saying they could make it (and there were exactly 10 of those, so far)...so I just cut to the chase at the beginning and said....let's see someone else make this badass shot that Bob did instead of just saying you did/can.

Much respect.

Ok, gotcha. I read the thread a couple times and thought you were doubting the video, because you kept asking for more. I understand now.

On that note of doubting... I see some stuff on here that I try, and I'm completely humbled. A part of me even feels that these shots or drills are only possible by the TOP tier pros. But that's just because I stink at this game and there is such a large difference between an average player like me and a GREAT player.

I spent twenty minutes trying and failing. I had polished my balls a few days ago so I tried rubbing chalk on the contact point and that helped a lot but I still could only come in at the .5 diamond mark.

only counts if a beer is in the other hand and the lights are off.

I can make any shot in the world when the lights are out. If you hear me running around the table throwing the balls into the pockets with my hands, just ignore that.

I started fooling with this a year or so ago. Was on it pretty good too. Even turned my shooting buddies on to it who took many a swing.
Never played it...none of us.

What's pretty cool about the exercise though is you begin to appreciate just how much a ball can be backsided.

Like many here I got within a inch or two on the long rail (at best) a few times....most looked much worse if not completely whiffed.

Tough ass look no doubt.

This is a great shot to get you aligned
It forces you to find the limit. Not only the hit but the spin.

I'd suspect the ones missing by a ton aren't spinning the ball..
Put your tip way out there guys and gals!!

That's what was so great about this shot to me. I usually ignore all the crazy masse shots, between the legs, one handed, etc....just because they aren't much interest to me.

But every normal bank or cut shot that could come up in a game I've ever seen...I've always felt I could make. The only difference between me and a better player would be the frequency with which we make it. This one was the exception for me. I looked at it and said, what? So I tried it....and no dice...and became amazed at it.

So the challenge still stands, for all those that say they can make it, i'll post up a decent amount to see it.

The shot's probably not possible with clean, polished balls unless you get really, really lucky and chalk transfers from the tip to the cue ball and then happens to land on the contact point. I'm not sure if this is possible on a single stroke for this position, but I have done it once intentionally with the cue ball much closer to the object ball.

Bob, can you elaborate on this? You intentionally played a shot such that the chalk mark from that shot landed on the contact point in order to impart more English??

It's a shot that comes up all the time at one pocket. Spot two balls on the foot spot and shoot the back ball straight into your pocket. Usually the third spotted ball is the first one that can be made.

It is possible to jump the cue ball a little over the front ball and hit the second ball while still in the air.

It is also possible to put the cue ball down about half a ball from the pair and to shoot with side (and I think I used follow) so that you hit the second ball as full as possible and the chalk spot lands on the object ball. You need to get just the right amount of rotation on the cue ball. It's probably a 10-try shot if you get the distance and spin down.

how much do you want to pay to see it made by someone other than Bob?

Very interesting - thanks Bob. You learn something new every day. The jump makes sense (albeit difficult). However, I never would have thought to use the chalk mark intentionally in that way.

Masters chalk: 1
Kamui chalk: 0

i don't WANT to pay anything. but i'll bet on it, as long as i get to examine the equipment during and just after the shot.

does not sound like there is much chance to get a bet down then to see it done on video if you insist on examining the equipment.

how so? if you make it legitimately...bet is on.

not looking for some trick way to make it.

Who knows if Bob's balls were polished like a marble or dirty from days of play? Throw some balls in a Diamond polisher with some ball cleaner and buff them like a mirror and that video could have been 10x longer.
