To bad to hear it went like this - Let me know what the result is- Hopefully I'll see you out there we won this weekend as well

Hey Chris

They are just trying to cheat their way to a continuation of the last 2 sets of the finals with no basis in fact whatsoever. We won 15-8. You lose sirs! Good day.

Looking forward to the bright lights of Vegas, perhaps a nice gentleman's club, some blackjack maybe alot if I win, and lots of action at the pool tables.

I agree...as a former APA LO, I never missed attending any kind of playoff matches...both to oversee a smoothly run event, and to settle any questions. This would never have happened in my league. The entire team that threatened the shooter, would have been thrown out of the league permanently. There would be no rematch, and the win would be awarded as it stood.

That's a very good point. To take it further, why wasn't the LO there during the initial altercation? I understand matches are played in multiple places but if this was a playoff for the trip this would have been a priority matchup.

Master9baller it seems like you handled the situation like a class act. Shots on me in Vegas if we cross paths. Make sure to send those losers a "Wish you were here!" postcard.

assaulted by our l.o.

Good luck with apa nationals. I was assaulted by our league operator and his two sons in St.Louis and then the bouncer at the citi tourney in the semi finals. The apa will back them up. Worst run organization I could imagine that is successful somehow.

To the original poster: wow! I can't believe how poorly your LO represents the APA!! I can tell you for sure that my LO would have booted that guy forever, and possibly suspended his team. Hearing stories like this really make me appreciate the way things are done near me. I am from Northeast MA. I am playing in the 8 ball team event, and also the Masters. I'm psyched to go...I think my Masters team has a real shot.

My name is Kerry McAuliffe and I would be happy to buy you a drink or something...your whole situation sucks. Anyway, if you see me out there, say hello!

Good luck, and I hope our teams don't meet in the Masters lol. Although I can tell you for sure none of us will punch you lol!!

Thanks again to all

I appreciate the support and multiple views of this thread, now upwards of 1,260. I look to the upper right corner of my screen, see the APA join today advertisement and it makes me wonder how much advertising it takes to negate stories like this one.

Funny that the central office has chosen to ignore me today. Well tomorrow I will try to make it past their operator who gaurds access to anybody there better than Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens.

Everyone says the APA is saving pool. Well maybe it is the players who are saving the APA.

Apparently the one sober individual on the opposing team was very apologetic to my team captain, he always seemed to be a good guy. Just the 3 drunk individuals who were jerks to me even on their sober days. I'd say they were APA 4-5's, guys who would need alot to have a chance at beating me. Alcohol only accentuated their rudeness towards me, just because they knew what I'd do to them in competition.

The other two teams has some decent guys on them, two active servicemen and we were all mutually respectful. It sucks getting beat, but you take your licks in this game and try to grow from them. In the end that's what makes you stronger and eventually they can only hurt you or your game if you allow it.

I'll let everyone know how this ends.

I hate to hear stories like this. As soon as that guy punched you the entire opposing team should have been disqualified. Period. End of story. He shouldn't ever be allowed to play APA again.

I don't understand why the LO would have you replay since you beat them already? I wish the national APA office will step in and do the right thing.

Wouldn't bet on it...

Kerry...Congratulations on your win. Good luck in Vegas, to you and your team! I'm hoping to get back up to MA in Sept.

I hear ya. I play APA in Tarrant County and I couldn't imagine ever seeing that level of behavior. My LO would have black balled that dude in a heartbeat.

i play tarrant APA as well, and the LO is always present at any higher level tournament and as stated will not tolerate shenanigans.

I haven't kept up. Is this kind of hooliganism the kind of traditional behaviour that will save pool from the evil space aliens?

Time to resolve this BS today

Here is an email I sent to the LO this morning. Clarifying the obvious decision that he must make here:

"At this point I cannot fathom why you have not disqualified the opposing team. Three of the four members of the opposing team blatantly threatened me over the course of perhaps 10 minutes wherein I did not respond in kind. Then following the resumption of my match and my win in which nothing whatsoever was said between my opponent and I am physically assaulted by a intoxicated belligerent opponent who cannot handle the fact that he just lost 7 games straight. Then all 3 of them threatened me for upwards of 15 minutes where I felt that the only resolution was to call the police. The APA policies that you are aware of and that I have submitted to you make your decision clear.

The physical assault perpetrated by JJ disqualifies his entire team. Should you choose to disqualify only him their team loses by a score of 14-6, no 3rd set required. Not to mention that the other 2 opponents that threatened me in 2 separate sessions, wherein I did not respond in kind. I did nothing that would invite any sanction of myself, in fact I am surprised at the level of restraint that I employed during the entire hour of abuse that I was put under.

At this point I do not understand what would stop you from making the decision, but it will be made in absence of you because of the zero tolerance policy the APA has towards physical violence in play. You should consider just making the correct decision and foregoing any allegiances you may have with members of the opposing team. It's easy to do the right thing here Brad, just do it."

I'll be trying to speak to whoever at APA headquarters handles these decisions, because it seems the local LO is afraid to go against his friends. I'll admit they have alot of bark in them, but they're just a bunch of twats in the end.

If I get an email address at APA I may ask for emails of support to be sent. Lets say 400 emails reminding them that AZ members don't tolerate the BS. Thanks again, this should be settled today one way or another.

Hope the LO does the right thing. Not likely the national organization will step in.

The OP said he was being sharked. The guy was drunk. Have you ever seen drunk people do something stupid? I have rarely seen a drunk person who didn't do something stupid.

I don't think the drunk was sharking him, I just think he was a stupid drunk guy.

So you're saying drunk people can't shark as well?

This is a Master's league. The majority of these people know a little bit about the pool game

I'd like to hear the other side of the story before condemning the APA on one man's word. Your taunting the other player to "bet $500" makes me think you did much more than just sit there and take abuse. Not to mention how many times you've arrogantly said on here the other team had no chance. I wonder if you said some of the same things that night.

Maybe everything you've said is true and if so the other team should have been forfeited IMO but I bet there's more to the story.

You may be right. I just left a message on a voicemailbox that says they'll call me back within 48 hours, the same one that I used yesterday.

Noticed on the APA website that they employ 50 people, pretty big operation. Perhaps one of them will find 5 minutes in their day to return my calls.

This afternoon I will try and get a email address and we'll let operation email commence. Masters registration deadline is in 48 hours so there won't be anytime to waste.

The team as a whole may have had a chance my friend, but none of them did with me. My record in match play was 16-0. That's pretty strong right? With an average score 7-3.

If I did anything more to egg the guy on I'd say it here. Do you question my honesty? I have no reason to lie.

Even if I had egged on the beligerant idiot there is no excuse to hit anybody when they shake your hand. The APA policy states loss of tournament period there is no excuse for using physical violence.
