Autographed photos of current players

I am just looking for opinions. Would you like to be able to buy autographed or even non-autographed photos of current players? I am going to make available autographed and non-autographed photos and posters of Nes and Borana on go4pool.com in a week or so, but I was wondering if there was any desire out there for other photos and posters of, for example, Ginky, Stevie Moore, Tony Robles, Jennifer Barretta, etc? I was researching it and I couldn't find anything like it except some for the old players and for a lot of money. Most of them weren't even real players, like Tom Cruz and Paul Neuman, etc.

Thanks,
Jim

Personally I am not interested in autographs or photos. It is not my thing. All it ever meant to me is that you met that person and you have proof to show it.

A photo next to that person is more personable but not as marketable to anyone else.

When you really think about it, an autograph is worth nothing unless it's at the bottom of a check.

I do think there is a small market for this but IMO unless the players are getting paid something then I would not be interested. I know there are people out there who will sell autographs they got for free or even not pay royalties for video taped matches which is wrong.

In my humble opinion, for what it costs to print the said pictures and the cost of shipping (Someone pays for it one way or another) then giving the player a cut of the money made, you would have to sell them at a price that may not be worth it. Unless youare a big fan and or you have a autograph that is rare. I have thought about this before. Its tough to do but I hope you find a way to make it work cos at the right price they could be popular.

No but it's just me.

No not really but it is not my thing. I had the chance to watch Borana play my friend Betty Lee (Formally Betty Sessions) and I chatted a little with Borana and just knowing that she is a cool down to earth person was good enough for me to carry me through my pool life.

Thank you.

Autographed Photos

I took photographs of all the better players for 20 years and I have their autographs. I have been thinking of making the photos available for everyone to see, in a fashion similar to the way Bill Porter made his available. As far as the autographs those were never meant for anything but my personal memory of the players, the tournaments and the fun I had.

Quite Frankly

I can probably find on the Internet, a picture of almost any pro I want, and I have a deskjet 1220C wide carriage color printer, and I can print it on on paper up to 19" x 13" if I wanted to, and its free. So, no I would not pay for pictures for that reason.

I enjoy seeing all types of well photographed scenes, People, places, nature, historic, current...but the key is that they need to have some type of meaning and attachment to me. A picture of some meaningless person, that I do not know, never met, or isn't "bigger than life" isn't worth the photo paper it's printed on.

Maybe posters might be cool..... for people's pool rooms. I know there are guys who would love to have a sexy poster of one of the hottie female players stroking their cue.......

It would even be cool to see Mika or any other champion bending down, firing in the 9 with an intense look in his eyes....... I think what is needed here is a creative theme to go with the photo and that is all you would need to sell them.....

Thank you

I have to say that everyone's responses were very helpful, but one. There are a lot of reasons that this may work or not work, but I am still interested in hearing more opinions.

Thanks,
Jim

Just sayin, I think it would sell better if it is posterlike but with one Main picture and other smaller ones around the parimiter. Maybe add some bio !

Autographed or not it makes it into a novelty more as it is a collection !

Just sayin'

If you need any help sharing them, I would be more than happy to do all the work for you.

I'm currently in the process of trying to get a bunch of photos all in one place.... Bill Porter was nice enough to share all of his.. Freddy "The Beard" Bentivegna was nice enough to share all of his and I'm sure Steve Booth from onepocket.org will share many of his....

Instead of photos in 500 different places.. 1 here , 15 there, 50 there.. it would be nice to consolidate them all and most certainly give proper credit to those who have shared them.

I'm more interested in older pics.. Maybe anything older than the last 10 years for the most part.

Let me know if you'd like to share them or need someone to do the grunt work.:D

I have one (personalized "to Dave") autographed photo, of Cliff Thorburn. Got it at an exhibition after I was drawn to play a game against him, I didn't ask for it. It does mean somthing to me because of the event. I cannot see ever buying a signed or unsigned photo. Just one data point.

An autograph is to memorialize an event as in, "I got so and so's autographs". There is little or no value to the autograph gotten by someone else. Exceptions may be very famous people whose autographs are rare and an investment by collectors. Honestly, I doubt you could sell any autographs of essentially meaningless people.

I made a note, , I also think it would be best to have them in one place, thanks for the offer of doing the work, that would really be a great help.

When it comes to collecting autographed pictures, the joy is really in taking the pictures and obtaining the autographs myself.
