AZB'er You Most Want to Meet...

I'd like to meet that guy from Missouri; his name is Scamp, Champ, or something like that. I hear that he's witty, charming, and extraordinarily good looking, but not much of a One Pocket player.

I'd like to meet Jay and Bartram.

Thanks man. I love it when someone comes up to me at a tourney and tells me they are "so and so" from AZ. I usually have to ask them to tell me their real name.

I have reconnected with so many old friends on here and made just as many new friends too. It has been almost like a new life in pool for me. It seems like another lifetime ago when I was hanging out in Johnston City and the Stardust watching my heros play, and even playing with a few of them myself.

Then came the years running all over the West Coast chasing pool games. And next was running the poolroom in Bakersfield, and playing a million road players. After that it was on to organizing and running tournaments, and getting very involved with that. I've never really left this phase, just added on doing commentary and writing to the list.

So I feel like I've had a few lifetimes in the pool world, and this is the newest one. I don't feel done yet by any means. I can still play a little and do just about anything as good as ever. Oh, except for one thing.

In the past week Island Drive visited me and we played a little pool and right now Greg Sullivan is sleeping in my guest bedroom. He is heading down to San Diego this week for the WPBA event where they are using Diamond tables. Greg can play a little too, believe it!

one day....

i'm not really down for a future like the Matrix.

But wouldn't it be sweet if one day we could just upload to the AZ Billiards pool hall and EVERYONE would be there!

I've had the pleasure of meeting probably about 20 or so members on here and enjoyed talking to all of you.

I would really enjoy meeting Jay, Shooting Arts, Jam, Rangy G., Pool Teacher, OTLB/RKC, and most definitely Houma Troy. Hell I'd like to meet each and every one of you.

best wishes,
Keeb-

I'd have to say

My first choice would be Smorg. I never got the chance to speak to him on these forums, or get to know him. I will say though the effect he had as a person had a resounding impact because I still remember things I read that he stated and how good of a person he was.

After that I'd have to say Jay, Joeya, Bigtruck, some of the guys that can teach a "young buck" like me whose only been around the game for about three year's of serious play.

Honestly I'd love to meet anyone on here. Gotta say there's very very few people that I wouldn't want to me, though a few pop into mind immediately.

I'd like to meet Neil. This guy has a boatload of knowledge and I don't think many people give him credit for it. Super creative mind, which I lack.

I'd also like to meet blah blah. Pool chicks really turn this monkey on.:love2::lol:

I've met a few AZers in Vegas and probably more this year.
I think Trigger was there last year and probably walked past and didn't didn't know it.
I think I'll sneak up on her this year if shes there.

Jay Helfert, shoot a couple of games, maybe get some tips and listen to stories for the rest of the night. It would be like the author narrating the book in person.
And I'm pretty sure Fat Boy and I will cross paths this year.
Leon Sly whom I consider to be my mentor. Late night BS sessions on cues and anything else. Very helpful and always there with an answer.
And my favorite AZer that I've met, Jim Baxter. We met in Vegas, had a blast and continue a great long distance friendship over the phone.
Oooops, left out DaveK who mostly hangs in the Machinery Forum, great shooter and a wealth of knowledge on anything machinery related.

I will be there!

I still need to meet akaTrigger, BigTruck, FastLenny. But what I'd really like is to be there when CocoCowboy and Roy Steffensen have lunch together. It's just I know how much Roy loves CCB's posts and i'm sure Roy would treasure that experience.

One of these days we will be at the same tourney!!

I have been incredibly lucky, have met maybe 100 people from here....there are far too many I'd like to meet, but will try to list a few...

Hu - Shooting Arts
Jay
Eric - Fatboy
Jackson
Terry
John Schmidt
This list could go on forever....

BTW, I have met Mr Big Perm (Jason) and he is a super guy. You'll be glad to meet him.

I also met Trigger before I knew Trigger. Very nice lady. I was gonna ask her out, but Jay kept poking me with a stick. At least I'd like to believe it was a stick :P

Yeah-Maybe they could play Roy's favorite game "Bone-Us Ball"

poolplayers are the best people

I've met a lot of people on here, although I didn't even mention AZB... Shy? Wanting to keep some semblance of anonymity? I don't know, but what has really surprised me in myself and in others is that the online persona is often different from the in- person persona.

Some of the most hilarious and the most knowledgeable posters here are actually rather reserved and quiet in real life.

For AZBers I'd like to meet, I think everybody fits this category, since of course poolplayers are the very best people in the world. But I would have to categorize the meetings into: people I want to play with, people I want to watch play, people whose brains I want to pick, people I'd go on a road trip with, people I would have to get drunk with (even though I don't drink anymore)... My list of AZBers I wouldn't want to meet would be miles shorter.

I agree on the Neil thing- nobody ever comes out and says Hey, Neil, you know a lot! ...hopefully he likes the greenies. Now Monkey's OTHER statement here is testament to both his love of pool and his wonderful loyalty to the ladies of pool...

He has even said on many occasions that those female poolplayers who started life out as men (yes, I'm talking about those untalkables out there) have suddenly turned hotttt. We gotta watch out for that Monkey and protect him from himself.

: )

tons of people here

I have met a double handful of AZB'ers and hope to meet many more. GreyGhost and I will be meeting soon with a little luck and I may meet several more this weekend at The Big Easy.

The two posters I most hope to meet are Terry Ardeno and Smorgass Bored. Terry very soon, Smorg not for a long long time!

The last time a similar thread started, I believe I listed sjm at the top of my list. I got to meet him (although WAY too briefly) last year.

So, I'll try the magic again and say I would most like to meet Chris Tate. Who knows? It could work again!

My first choice would have also been Smorg. But, I'm kinda figuring on staying around here for a while, so it's going to be some time, before I get the chance to meet him. So, I didn't mention him on my first post.

We've met so many AZers and so many great people in this industry, altogether... We're ALWAYS glad to meet more! Hope to see many of you at the Super Billiards Expo, next week!

BTW, I have met Mr Big Perm (Jason) and he is a super guy. You'll be glad to meet him.

Ditto. Big Perm is one of the coolest people in the world of pool!

FWIW, Smorg met me, but I didn't know that I met him. How perfect was that?
