Jay,
I hope all goes well for you. I don't know the situation you're dealing with but I married a Filipina who had twin daughters that she left with her parents in Cagayan De Oro. I know that bringing them over at a later date was going to be quite a bit more difficult than I'd ever imagined. And most of it needed to be done from this end. You should talk to a good immigrations attorney who specializes in the Philippines. There's a good one in LA, (a Filipino who has offices in the US and Manila) can't remember his name right now but Jose once recommended him to me. PM or call me if you want. I've been through some of this myself and may be able to point you to some help.

A good Immigrations Attorney would be Michael Gurfinkel. He's based in the States but has a column on Immigration for the Philippine Star and I think also a TV program on The Filipino Channel (ABS-CBN). He specializes in helping Filipinos get US Visas and Green Cards.

Here's his website.

Hope you all the best!

Thanks, you're the second person to refer me to him, and his offices are based in Glendale, CA. If things don't work out this trip I will contact him.

I really do appreciate all the encouragement from everybody. I am a little concerned about this trip, so much is riding on it as far as Jalo is concerned. I need everything to go as planned and for Jalo to get her US passport and become an American citizen. After that it might be as simple as buying a plane ticket for her.

I'll keep you all posted after I get there. I leave tonight for the 14+ hour trip to Manila. I don't know how these pool players fly all over the globe. I know I couldn't do it.

Good luck with the trip, Jay. Sounds like a complicated situation and you're a good man for taking care of business.

You're welcome, Jay. Can't help but notice that you don't mention the mother much in your post. I know it's none of our business but I hope you're on good terms. You'll be needing her consent as Jalo is still a minor.

Good luck Jay my heart is with you , I myself am having some family issues and it's always hard when Children are involved . So my heart goes out with you Jay and you will be in my prayers . Later Buddy .

Good luck Jay. I know nothing about how the process goes but it sounds like you have a lot you will have to deal with. I hope everything falls into place for you.

Goodluck Jay...hope everything is ok...I don't think there will be a problem about the paper works..as long you have someone to back you up there that you were there in the last year ....I think some of pool players like Efren would vouch for you about staying there in the philippines for few months ....let me know how we can help you...god bless..

Good luck on your quest to bring you child home, and get out at night, and play some pool for your mental. I am sure you alreal know but as my buddy told me of his PI experences to buy land, and build his retirement home there, GREEN is what makes thing happen there.

Jay you will be needing a copy of her birth certificate issued by NSO (national statistics office) and a couple of passport size photos. You can apply online for her birth certificate and it will be delivered to anywhere in the Philippines in less than a week.

P.S.- Is Trigger O.K. with all this???:D

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thought of this! :p

The very best of luck for you on this trip Jay. My thoughts are with you. Come home safe, both of you!

We are on good terms now, out of necessity, but she was part of the problem. Kind of an indifferent mother, more interested in $$$ than child care. I think you get the picture. She is the variable in this equation. I'm hopeful she continues to co-operate with me. I won't know for sure until I get there.

Bronchial pneumonia is no joke. I had it when I was about 8 years old. I was so weak I wasn't getting enough oxygen in my lungs to walk so I had to low crawl, or be carried to the bathroom. My parents said I almost died from it, but I can't remember it at all.

Jalo was comatose when she arrived at the hospital. The first day was touch and go as to whether she would live. They hooked her up to to all kinds of machines. They sent me photos of this poor little thing all wired up with tubes going into her. By day two she was breathing on her own again.

I now have the first stomach ulcer of my life, stress induced my doctor said. This has been a rough month, and it isn't over yet.
