Beat or Match Mosconi's 526 at the BCAPL Nationals Win Cash!

Thanks for the nice gesture

I agree. If there's a challenge to break Mosconi's record, then it should be on the identical table and conditions on which Mosconi did it.

Chamberlain's Diamond run is 311, which I think should be recognized as a world record in it's own right.

I just saw this comment you made and thanks alot.Im sure my 311 run will be broke on a diamond many times under the right conditions. The cloth was 2 weeks old and the balls were cleaned at the beginning of the run and never 1 time after that was any ball removed to be cleaned, polished or buff in a towel.btw I got my 30th run over 200 on monday with a 233 under similar conditions.

What is it about "self" that prompts other wise thoughtful individuals to get all nutty?

Don't misunderstand me...it's entertaining...but nutty...let's see the topic is " Beat or Match Mosconi's 526 at the BCAPL Nationals Win Cash!"

camera

in todays day and age ,phones can video runs and cameras etc.
to b mentioned or especially put on the high run list i think it should b mandatory that run is filmed .
that way the people who always talk about all these high runs even though in public have never done anything that resembles world class 14.1 can b outed for the liars that i feel they r. im not naming names but u know who u r out there. just my 2 cents.

Exactly. A near equivalent would be to have several witnesses. However, the camera don't lie....unless you are real good at editing and patching. LOL

Not everybody is interested in being filmed and the hassles of cameras and for any record books high runs in practice dont make count at all as only in tournaments and exhibitions.I sure would have liked to see cranfields 860 and mosconis 526 and 609 or Wimpy Lassiters run on his 5x10 in which he played for 5 hours before he missed. Also the most current runs of Cohens 462 and Feijens 412.
Hi runs in todays world are much easier with the equipment like Simonis cloth, performance shafts, resin balls, polishing of the balls to avoid clusters and the occasional silicone wiped on the cueball from a players towel or from in their pockets which is certainly illegal and I wont mention any names so no one is offended.High runs in practice can just happen and who wants to have a camera everytime you practice unless they need to make a living from it.

cohen ran 430 and neils is 416 im farly sure.
bobby chamberlin i want to do u a favor.
that post about cameras seem to have made u mad as u feel it was directed at u.
u felt the need to send me a pm physically threatening me if i didnt take it down.

not only will i not take it down im going to give u a chance to prove me wrong since u claim a high run of 311 on a diamond and 30 runs over 200 which frankly i call bullshit .
now people might read this and think why is john schmidt picking on this guy ,trust me he has physically threatened me thru private messages enough now that im done kissing his ass.

i dont like bullies bobby and u can try and bully me but instead of backing down from u ,i stand by my statement that i dont believe all your claims of high runs.frankly i dont think u can play dead in a western.
so i propose this ill play u a 2000 point game even on a diamond on film.
if u win u get 5000 if i win i get no money but the poolworld will c how u actually play which will b reward enough for me.

Johnny after reading your pm you sent me I sent you a return pm and you said you were insinuating a guy named Sasha not me so I wrote to you it's all good.what do you get from trying to put someone down anyways.your a great player with much talent. In my recent pm to you today I clearly did not threaten you physically but did let you know that if my name comes up again by you or 1 of your groupies that I would infuriate you with telling much info on you but I'm the better man at this time and all other times. As stated I don't need to play pool to make ends meat like you and I just picked up the most recent bca rules and record book and failed to see your name listed anywhere as a world champion.I constantly hear the chatter of you saying comments like Mosconi wasn't this and Lassiter wasn't that and there are many Lassiters in today's world and all I can say is why bash these players or any others.Im not interested in any action or supporting any events or sponsors with your name attached with the little girl rants you go on.Also I am not interested in beating you up either as I don't hit girls.

LOL! I know, talk about a thread that has (and is continuing to see) it all:

1. An innocuous advertisement about an event offering a prize reward to anyone who can beat Mosconi's 526
2. A recommendation to alter this challenge such that "like" equipment is used to equal/eclipse Mosconi's run
3. Back and forths about how records are made to be broken, but one doesn't see it happening because of Mosconi's "deity-ness"
4. Questions about rights to the video if the 526 milestone is broken
5. More back and forth about how the record won't be broken -- and defenses why, describing the difference in equipment, etc.
6. More back and forths about high runs on 10 x 5 tables
7. Then the "on-topic car" hits a guard rail and goes off the road -- a certain poster starts a manifesto against "jack-booted thugs" (cops or ex-cops) and this goes back and forth with some of our respected ex-military and ex-police force members
8. Mike Grosso (14-1StraightMan) gets nominated for President
9. The anti-police / anti-authority member really goes off and gets himself banned
10. Thread has a Miller-time, and a ticker-tape parade ensues
11. Thread takes a turn to talk about cycling (bicycle) records
12. An observation is made about the nuttiness of this thread, and how "nutty" some people can get
13. One member pipes in to talk about his own records, but adds a little "side ding" about balls never being cleaned / siliconed between racks
14. A well-known pro jumps in to dispute those records, and offers challenge
14.1 ...and that's where we are right now.

Yup, this thread's got it all! I wonder if poor Holly had any idea -- any clue -- what would transpire when she created this thread? :o

I want to spend a moment to apologize to all of the 14.1 people on the azbilliards forum.I don't want to make excuses for my comments that are certainly in the wrong thread and quite possibly any thread.I will not deny calling John out earlier this year after him making fun of my weight but have not threatened him physically today or any day since then and will be glad to send a dated copy of todays messages that I sent to John that will prove it and clear up any issues. This is a dead issue for me now unless my name is mentioned in any negative ways.Once again I hope we all can move on and respect each other and also the Great Willie Mosconi.

15. Jack-booted thug pro now goes haywire, challenging a reader from northern AL because that reader asked about the location of the "like" button for this thread.

Sorry John -- I couldn't resist! :D Just kidding, obviously.
-Sean <-- thinks this thread should be narrated by Dennis Farina, or Dennis Leary. ;)

Charlie Ursetti had said Mosconi had run over 200 more than 500 times, more than 300 about 200 times,400 about 50 times and 500 about a dozen times.I often wonder how Mosconi would do on today's equipment with the easy and fast simonis cloth and today's resin balls.no doubt 700 or 800 would be within reason figuring he loved to challenge himself and practiced almost everyday.

Sean...very funny list...you are going to continue to maintain this list? Right?(past 14.1).

Us carom forum people are too boring compared to you guys. I knew there was a reason why I played a lot of straight pool back in the day. Cause you guys are a riot!

I could kick myself now for deciding not to go to NYC.
I could've played with the bland carom people in the funny looking bowties...and then hang out with you 14.1 rabble-rousers!

Funnier than shite!
