Bergman calls out Boyes on Facebook

Doesn't take any 'balls' to call out someone when you're gettin staked. I'll play anyone if I get staked'....words by John Schmidt!
I'm sure you would also, and so would I.
See how they bet when its their own $$$.
Like someone posted, they were both in vegas. Get up or go home....they went home!

How cool it would've been if Boyes just had him blown off.
"No time for boy games, am playing grown up tournaments".

Will not watch.
Cheers,
M

Here's another real possibility. Since JB's recent MC event, he may have learned something about his game and improved....even more of a weapon, he may of become aware of his opponents weaknesses. I've beaten players better than myself by understanding their poor shot choices and weaknesses during play. It's the same as course management in golf. Not always does the supposed better player win.

It's a callout in the sense that Boyes has won multiple world class events, made it to the finals of the us open, not to mention all those mosconi cups and the diamond 10b 10ft challenge. Bergman's won some events too, but the big winners for him seem to have been tar-type events, 1-pocket, and barbox majors.

Not saying it's david and goliath, but it's definitely ballsy to seek out a match with someone like Karl.

Great that he'll do it again if he wins, but it'd be really impressive if he said he'd do a second set even if he loses.

Hey there!

Hey Gunn_slinger, when the bank lends you $1million to open up a business and you promise to get them a return on there investment it takes balls. If you don't play that bank loan right, you make nothing either, as well as hurt your credit rating. I respect John Schmidt completely, but if someone wants to put Justin in the box for $20K, he should say no? That dude will play his heart and ass off for that backer. That's a fact. It don't matter who stakes it, Justin called out a player that just played damn good in the cup. Show some respect to the kid. He got game. And heart. And if someone wants to invest in his game, its Justin's choice to say, "yes, I can win this game and make you a return on your investment. Which is exactly what is happening.

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say Justin's backer is calling out Boyes?

I will put all my money to Karl really, I dont like Karl - I hate seeing his niples every single time he is on the video I am watching, why? Becase he wearing one tight shirt everytime he plays, like one size below his normal size, and when a player plays pool, camera only shows his upper body part, that is why my eye couldnt escape.
But recently he did a good job to hide it at Mosconi cup so thank you bery much Karl.

I like Justin and all other USA players but if they play even my money has to go with Karl, he will blow away Justin, sorry!

My comment has nothing to do with Justin, and nothing to do with a bank loan!
It doesnt take 'heart' or 'balls' to call someone out with a stake horse.
I've been doing this for over 45 yrs and have seen a lot of players show heart and balls betting their case $$$ in tough action. Thats not the case in stake horse action.
I like Justins game ( except all the 'air strokes' ) and I like John also.
I have respect for players who bet their own $$$, no matter how big or small.
I dont know you, but I would play you with a stake horse, takes no heart or balls.
The horse in taking all the risk ( and laying 2-1 on the money ). Most horses cant play, but they want to be in the spotlight with top players, so the put up the $$$. Nothing wrong with that for horse or player, but dont call it 'heart or'balls' , cause its not!
Good luck to Justin from 'not a boyes fan'!

I agree. Getting staked and calling someone out takes "0" balls. If good players bet just up to 1k of their own, learned how to manage their bankroll, and be very good at matching up to make money...not just to gamble, they would in most cases make more than using a horse. Johnnyt

I'll ask the same question....how many games will you give me if I take JB?

lol…… I think Justin is the favorite in a long race gambling for high stakes on a table he is comfortable with…. but I think it is to close to bet even. I could be persuaded by someone wanting to give up several games against Justin if you think he is a huge underdog.

I respectfully disagree. I think what many people are missing in these types of scenarios is that these matches aren't just about the money, they are about pride and reputation. When Justin calls out another top player he can get staked for the money, he can't get staked for the pride/reputation. That is something that he puts on the line every time he plays a game like this.. and I promise you that means a lot to most of the top players.

I think if Justin and Karl play a long race - Justin will come out on top because he keeps his emotions in check much better than Karl and Justin has more experience playing long races and I think Justin is the better offensive player.

When it comes to heart and playing with all you've got then Justin severely outclasses Karl.

Justin wins by 5 games for every 30-35 they play. That's my prediction.
