Best American player not to have won the U.S. Open?

What about.......

I know you said American players...but what about Jose Parica? The guy has finished 2nd, 2 or 3 times at least, AND should ALREADY be in the Hall Of Fame. This is as bad a snub as Bill Stroud not being in the Cuemakers Hall of Fame!

ps- Jose DOES live in California now, so maybe he SHOULD be on this list? LOL! And so far, it looks like Kim Davenport may get his yet! GO K.D. !

Jim Rempe. For the period of his career that he was virtually unstoppable, how he didn't win the title escapes me.

Jose' Parica. Exactly how long do you have to live in the U.S. and still not become an American citizen? Anyway, he's been close so many times.

Keith McCready. The year Jeremy Jones won, Keith was playing the best pool of anyone leading up until the last day. If the tournament had finished the day before, I think Keith would have walked away with it.

When I saw the list of Champions, I immediately thought of one guy who always placed high and was a threat in any tournament, but didn't win the Open, and that was "King James" Rempe. I also thought I'd be the first one to mention him. Good to see some folks here remember him.

Davenport was my next choice.
 
I just read the list, I pretty much had it memorized, the players not the years. Keith, Kim, Rempe, Ed Kelly(he was not to old when the US Open started), thatsjust offthe top of my head, I'm sure I could think of more.

The good news is I could be wrong, I hope I'm wrong. Kim is still in the winners bracket right NOW!!!!!! Nick Varner said to me last night after the award cermony, "Could imagine if JA and Kim make it to the finals?" He smiled real big when he said that, I replied "I couldnt stand it". I dont want either of them to lose, Nick agreed that it would be tough in that way, but for the history books it would be the match of our time-Nick said, I Agreed.


I was watching Parika, Kim, Nick all playing at the same time, winners bracket matches on day 3 or 4, pretty sure day 3, It was like a flash back to 1986 at the Sands seeing those guys out there, winners side!!! not in a senior tournment. I remember in 85 when I started playing guys were washed up when they hit 50, not anymore-these old guys can play now days, good doctors, genes, ton of heart or all of the above!!!! I love it,
