best background music for shooting pool?

Rage Against The Machine, Black Flag, Incubus, Jay-Z, Godsmack, Radiohead, Garbage, The Cranberries, Cream, Steppenwolf, Silversun Pickups, Ice-T, Robert Cray, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Fort Minor, Miles Davis (especially *****es Brew), House of Pain, Jethro Tull, Rise Against, Sublime, Bob Marley..........I could go on and on.

If I'm playing straight pool I like blues or jazz. If I'm playing a more offensive game like 9-ball I probably prefer hard rock like Van Halen, Metallica etc.. and when I shoot 3-cushion I prefer....probably back to the blues and jazz.

when my gf's and i are playing, we like something uptempo with a strong backbeat. so going back in ancient history, how about 'pretty woman' from roy o?

i'm sure that the wit and wisdom of the forum can do much better!

yo gotti.
you will be in dead stroke.

Eric Clapton's From the Cradle is great to shoot pool to. Or perhaps some old school Robert Johnson...

I'm gonna really buck the system here. Good ole' rock and roll, Baby's,Frampton,Journey,Foghat ect and oldies are good, 50's forever.

But to really settle me into the mood, crank up some Big Band stuff and I'm jammin'. Who can argue with Duke Ellington, Woody Herrman, Benny Goodman and the Dorsey's? Good stuff.

I agree w/ all the blues posts, but whatever your tastes, try Pandora Internet Radio. If you have a modern sound system with an iPod dock (or even a means to connect a laptop or computer), you can just put in the name of your favorite song or band and Pandora will play "similar" songs based on whatever methods they use to associate them. We've been listening to Gov't Mule radio while shooting, and it almost never disappoints.

Are you kidding me ???????????? all you people left out......BOB SEAGER... WOW.

I can do with out the headbanging rock and gangsta rap but when you play pool its all left up to the jukebox goods!

thanks for the great ideas!

besides the specific suggestions, i took away a couple of things: customize your playlists for pool and think different genres for different games.

cheers!

i don't play much straight pool, but for one pocket I like Norah Jones nice and slow and soft, for 9 or 10 ball, i like anything with a beat and I HAVE TO BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE WORDS.

Jukebox HOrrors...

That is so right but worse than headbanging rock and gangsta rap in my opinion is what I can only describe as "Mexican Polka Music". We used to hear it every night in league and the mere thought of it sharks me both at and away from the table.

Agreed

That song works for many situations.

Cautionary note-some members view the lack of familiarity with the search function as a personal affront-and can react in a caustic manner.

Just sayin'

Welcome

The pool room is a very Real place. Situational awareness is a virtue.
