Best cue for under $350?

The best cue under $350, is the cue that feels best TO YOU and costs less that $350.00. I'm sure that there are a lot of them.

I have made this sugestion before so...............

Not to disagree with any other advice!!!!!

R360 by cuetec is under 300 and has a very very good hit.

it is now a bare wood low deflection shaft , not the coated stuff they did before.

you search cuetec and see for yourself.

shane vb and allison f use them.

end of advice !

need more info

where do you shoot? bar, poolroom.rec center? i PERSONALLY wouldn't worry about buying new(though i do) simply because the cue will drop in value quickly, then MAY appreciate back in value over time. I feel used schon's, joss', espiritu's, are fine values in steel jointed cues. many, many people are completely satisfied with their mcdermott cues. i don't shoot much with nonsteel jointed cues but do have some.check around, maybe post up a wanted poster in local supermarket bulletin boards. some woman may sell your her hubbies cue for what he told her he bought it for! the espiritu cue on ebay is in my opinion a very fine deal.

I am sure most of you are tired of answering questions such as this, but I would appreciate your input so I hopefully will not regret my purchase. After "some" research and browsing of the forums the brands I am considering is Joss, McDermott, Pechauer, and Poison (by Predator).

I know this seems pretty broad, but any and all input/suggestions would be appreciated. and by the way this is a cue for everyday play not as concerned with resale, just quality. (I believe I would prefer to purchase new rather than used, but all of that is still up in the air.)

Thanks,
Chase
I like to recomend McDermott when someone asks about purchasing a cue in this price range. They have a lifetime warranty on they cues now. Thats pretty strong. I think highly of their constuction also. Good hitting production cues. IMO

I don't know if you want to spend the entire 350, but if you do, i'd get the cheapest joss and throw an ob 2 on it.

I'm sure you'll be very satisfied with it.

Of the ones mentioned in this price range, I got to say JACOBY!Jacoby! Jacoby! pechaur is very good and Joss. Another one that starts out cheap is Viking. One of the oldest major cuemakers, made is USA and start under $200!.

I was looking for a friend of mine and I found a deal on ebay for a brand new viking, a jump/break cue and a 2/2 case for about $200! You can't beat that for value. Of course you even have room to step it up a bit on design and still stay in your price range.

Also, I know lots of people freak out when you mention Dale perry, but I have seen some decent examples going for less than $200. There is practically NO resale value though. You said that is not a concern for you anyways.

Thats what I was gonna say, 200-250 for the ob or z-2 shaft, 150 for the butt. Can you get a joss that cheap though? I think I'd rather go used anyway, just for the butt. A used predator sneaky pete butt would be a good choice for me, should be pretty cheap.

I always liked falcon myself for a cheaper production cue. Cant go wrong with any of the listed.

you can get a model for right at $166

I would buy a low deflection shaft, if that is what you want, such as 314 or OB2 new or used. Put it on almost any butt. It's pretty much all in the shaft and joint.

Go to the SBE in Valley Forge if you can. If you can't find it there it's not available anywhere. March is along time to wait though. Check ebay for inexpensive used shafts and butts.

Paul Mon..........good luck

Haven't read a single thread here, but I'd go to a major event and talk with the used cue sales people and the new/retail people, from there you'll gather info needed to make an informed decision. You can get a pretty nice cue in this price range used, well made cues last a life time.

Lots of good advise...

If you go the Pechauer route, check out Seyberts. They exclusively have a special edition series thats comes with the Predator 314-2. They have a plain jane for $300-350 with the 314-2 if I remember correctly. That is what I use as my bar cue

I agree with the buy a high performance shaft and put it on a cheaper butt.
I had a Meucci that I had since 92. I put a Predator shaft on it and it plays great. I'm not ashamed to play with a Meucci sometimes, even though I got a few cues over $1,000.

There use to be someone selling a new Meucci butt with a Predator 314-2 shaft for less than $300. I can't remember if it was on eBay or some other site.

Right now there are some new Predator cues on eBay, one is even less than $350.

Check these out, I bet this will be your best bang for the buck.

Only you know what you like .. 350 is a lot of money now a days .
I can tell you alot of cue makers that makes cue 350 but will it be to your like'n? Only you know what you like..
Good luck ..

narrowed down

After browsing the market I think I have narrowed it down to the Pechauer or Mcdermott. I will most likely buy used and put a better shaft on it like most of you have suggested. Although I started playing pool at a young age I have never been accustomed to an expensive cue/custom usually just your typical house cue. I do have some friends who play with Mcdermotts and love them, but could someone explain some key differences and explain why you would prefer one over the other.

Thanks
