Best Pro Stroke?

Steve Mizerak had the most natural, silky smooth, powerful and most effective stroke I've ever seen. Period. Get some accu-stats tapes and watch the man if you doubt me.

The player of today whose smoothness of stroke, power in the stroke, and general game reminds me of the MIZ (and I'm surprised this is never mentioned) is Corey Deuel. Fantastic stroke....and very natural talent (like the MIZ).

The balls sounded different when The Miz moved them. He had the most beautiful and most effective stroke I have ever seen.

Of today's players-
Danny Harriman
Tony Crosby
Thorsten Hohmann

Feijen-must be good...he shoots so straight
Efren-his greatness can't all be 'between the ears'.
Shane-can't argue with success.
Hall-k.i.s.s.
Jimmy Moore-one of prettiest
Hopkins-not pretty, probably technically unsound, but deadly.

Don't forget the"ballerina" aka ralph cortez! Sure his head bobs like a
pigeon but that stroke is smooth and steerraaat!:grin-square:

No doubt most folks have see Mosconiac's stroke analysis videos on YouTube. Here's a collection of his video posts and others for reference.

The players mentioned so far cover the gamut from bedrock solid to fluid. Different strokes for different folks.

Televised snooker matches will often feature head-on shots while a playing is stroking. Check out the links in Scaramouche's posts in the Snooker forum. The Welsh Open Final (O'Sullivan vs. Selby) is playing here now (with occasional interruption):

Nice to see SOMEBODY list a woman in this thread. I mean, how can you not put Allison's name in here with some of these other names???

Maniac

i really dig jasmin's presence at the table. alison always seems too mechanical to me while jasmin seems like an animal trying to rip her opponents head off!

she seems so intense it's hard not to like her

Ronnie O'Sullivan making it look easy

For me personally, I think Ronnie O'Sullivan has the straightest stroke:

For someone to be able to rocket balls into tight snooker pockets like this, without the "white knuckle" appearance that most snooker players have, to me says that Ronnie's stroke is natural, pure, and dead-eye-Dick straight (as verified by the overhead camera views).

Here's two videos from the recently-completed Welsh open where Ronnie O'Sullivan was "this close" to a perfect maximum break of 147:

Attempt #1:

Attempt #2 -- I love the Taiwanese commentators reactions in this one! "Waaaaaaaww!!" :)

He makes it look too easy!

I watch all these different players and everyone has a slightly different stroke but they all reach the same result. I don't think you really can compare player's strokes. Randyg taught me that the best stroke is the one that works best for you.

For the purest stroke, I would say Mike Massey and Buddy Hall. But of the young guns, I would definitely say Shane. Just watch how much action he gets on the cue ball, and always with a soft controlled stroke. It reminds me of Rodger Federer playing tennis.

how about larry nevel
