Big Blizzard, Pool, DCC, Etc...

Start of straight pool league for me is tomorrow. I'll see if the poolhall is open or not. It's supposed to 3-5 inches tonight, and another 8-12 inches tomorrow in NYC.

Sunday I have to be at Steinway. Hopefully the snow will be over by Sunday morning.

Looks like we will end up with 5-8 inches by tomorrow morning. I have been hitting the drive way hard so I can get out of the garage.

The roads didn't look bad from my house and I live in the country more or less. Watching the local news, the interstates look decent. Flakes are still falling so who knows what tomorrow will look like.

The farther north you travel, the better the conditions. I wouldn't think this system would have caused too many issues unless you are driving from the SE. I could have made it there today, but, I didn't want to get out there with all of the idiots that have no clue how to drive on the snow.

I was going to drive up from FL...but the storm was 800 miles of snowy driving...and I have to be in Gulf Shores AL on Sunday...so I'm just staying south. Too bad. I was looking forward to meeting and swapping teaching techniques with one of the senior Dutch players/coaches. We'll have to meet up another time. :frown:

I was thinking about going to DCC today but Louisville is in a winter storm warning currently. I may hold off making that drive today.

This amount of snow is huge, I manage a large crew of snow fighters/alpine heroes and it is common to get two feet of snow. We have had about five feet in two weeks but we are outfitted to deal with it. These large cities on the east coast will certainly have their hands full but they are no strangers to bad winters. With three of my kids on the east coast I wish I could help.

We got hammered last night! All the schools let out, half of the businesses closed, and there was a big run on the grocery stores.

We had almost 1/4 inch.

it hit NC at 4:27amEST. ended at 8pm, and went out with a fricken bang of massive sleet (not dissimilar to hail)! i've got 8.5 inches of snow, sleet, snow, pause.... sleet, snow...., more sleet, then fricken SLEET.

while they salted the roads in record time yesterday in preparation, they have done absolutely NOTHING today. 85 & 40 have NOT been plowed, as of 10pm. cars are covered in sheets of ice, and doors can't even be opened to warm them up - NOT, that it matters - cause we ain't goin' NOwhere.

- except outside to sled down my hill!

(i'm sending it up to yáll, Brian & Black-Balled)

We got about 10-12 inches 3-1/2 hours south west of DCC, will be heading up there at around noon tomorrow... Got to play one pocket Sunday you know...

Tom-Tom Wirth was worried about his flight being canceled. I'm not sure how the flights will be rescheduled, but he's coming from Florida.

Started here yesterday about 1:00, still going this morning unabated. Not supposed to stop for another 16 hours or so, totally buried. Thankful for ample supplies of steaks & scotch & GCIII downstairs.

Jerk!

Your driveway is brutal. I bet you are safest if you just open the door and throw yourself down the hill. Seriously, folks, her driveway has got to be 20% gradient, +/- 5%.

Here is my house:
