Anyone have any news on the state of affairs of Billiards Digest? I heard they might be going out of business? Hope what I heard is wrong!!!

Well, a few weeks ago I re-upped for another 3 years, and they took my money -- so now they are committed to continuing, right?

last few issues have been tiny. i know it's a niche magazine but $4.00/issue is kinda high.

My subscription ran out last month and I didn't renew.

I hope I didn't put 'em out of business ;):grin::grin:.

They better not be!! I just re-upped for two years!! None of the magazines are as good as they used to be, unfortunately. I think the best issues are from the early and mid 90s.

I totally agree. But it isn't the publications fault really. The 90's were the Golden Age of pool. You had Men and Womens pro pool, not only with viable tours, but on TV. In the Northeast we had the All About Pool Tour and the Tri State Tour with an open, A-B-C and D tours. There were pool rooms everywhere. There must have been 25 inside the 128 (Rt 95) belt. There were so many legends still playing. You had straight pool tournaments. In other words there was so much more to write about. Now, you have a few good tournaments and still some characters, but how many times can you write an article about how to make a stop shot? Or run 95 different variances of trick shots.

i made the mistake of cheaping out one year at the expo. usually all the magazines are there offering $20 subscriptions. Billiards digest didn't show up so I cheaped out and got inside pool :frown: never again..

Me to... did the 2 year sub... Never again. :banghead:

I hope they keep printing them, cause i'm not taking the ipad into the bathroom.:D

Why not? You'd have to be awfully unlucky to drop it into the toilet lol. I bring my tablet in there all the time. Sometimes I live dangerously and read while in the bath. Hopefully a 4 amp battery can't electrocute you.

I dunno if fatboy's right about print media but I do know I would pay just as much for a kindle subscription as I would for a print one, and sending it out over the internet would cost the publisher a lot less, so that's basically free money for them. If someone puts out interesting pool content that just automatically shows up on my screen every month, I'll buy it.
