Bonus Ball still lives

I love how people who have never started a new venture, come on here and bad-mouth an effort in their own industry.

I could understand bad-mouthing by competitor industries like darts-players -- or even competitive pool games like American Rotation, etc. -- but it's really odd coming from your own. What do we gain from Bonus Ball's failure, and what do we lose from its success?
As pool players, we've got everything to gain and nothing to lose...but still, some people hope for its failure. Very odd.

All new ventures move forward in fits and starts. Initially you have more failures than successes, but you keep at it and refine the business. It's very encouraging that the Bonus Ball entrepreneurs have the guts to soldier on.

Best of luck!

This is great news. Even if it does not have a strong US following it can be successful if it flourishes on TV in Asia, certainly possible and when you have the big numbers of viewers then sponsors follow. :)

BB Arena is still there

The arena awaits the return of the players and a new season of B Ball. When the next season starts there will be several upgrades that will be made.

The arena is just sitting there waiting????? But but but.... You guys couldn't work around existing events because of the arena overhead??? LOL..... Sorry I had to laugh.... Bahdi is laughing somewhere too.. Greg... Well I doubt he is laughing......

Saw some of it yesterday, while waiting for the Pacquiao fight on tv. Dennis Orcullo was commentating. I think it was an interesting game, esp watching the team camaraderie. They showed some rules on the screen while the play was ongoing. The game was too long, but I usually can't watch any games from start to finish.

Just need more colorful characters, and I think it's all set

Something that needs to be clear but the Ultimate 10 ball didn't happen because of a poor turnout which had nothing to do with Bonus Ball as majority of them showed up to play in that event. Tunica was also a flop and many fans who went to it will say the same about it not being like Derby. Bonus Ball didn't affect pro pool negatively as many were led to believe although some promoters felt slighted by the players. Current promoters who have been in the game have yet to figure out a way to make it successful or profitable venture for the players but the efforts are still appreciated. I do hope someone eventually figures it out for the sake of the players. Bonus Ball at least made an effort and it appears still are trying to make it happen.

We shall see what changes were made and if it will make a difference. Personally I would like to see 2 out of 3 format, 8 ball, Bonus Ball then 10 ball played as people are familiar with the two of the games and could be introduced into Bonus Ball. I also think the jerseys have to go in favor of polo shirts too. I also think the PPV model is a terrible idea and streaming should be free so you get more eyes on it giving it a chance. We should all be pulling for pro pool to succeed if we really all love the game and the talent of the top dogs. Shane is the best US player and makes about 100k a year, that is nothing for being the best.

I can only applaud the effort behind BB, but honestly never cared for the game, which I believe does more harm than good. There are already several really good competitive games that have stood the test of time with the worlds best players. Adding a new game, especially what I consider a "Gimmicky" game only dilutes the water in my opinion. I'd love to see the same efforts behind one pocket or straight pool, or even 9 ball and 10 ball, even though I don't particularly like either of them. We already have too many games to separate the masses,,,,,,, look at the popularity of snooker pretty much everywhere EXCEPT the US, that's because they all play one game, and all play it the same way.

Good points bdorman!

I've organized and promoted a couple of televised events and started a league, so got some idea of the effort these guys have put into this.

That said, was never sold on the game concept, so was a doubter from the start, but wish it does find legs for the good of all concerned. Some of the branding was better than the game has previously seen imho, but it's all about eye balls.

Cheers,
Colin

I don't understand how anyone can think that Bonus Ball does more harm than good. When the last Bonus Ball season started, Bull Shooters in Phoenix purchased the PPV and then aired the matches live on one of their TV's. I personally know people there who were not into pool, but were attracted to the game through those live streams. There was also a lot of interest from established league players as well.

I look forward to Bonus Ball coming back and giving those of us who are in the business end of the industry something new to offer our clientele.

Roger
