Borana on the Cover of Inside Pool

I think its awesome that she is getting praised for raising her game. I have seen very little of her in the past year, but I would guess she is around a B/B+. Not bad since a year or two ago, she was a D player. She is a very nice person and obviously, very good looking. I hope she only gets better and goes further.

That said, I can see what people are saying. If it weren't for her looks, would she be on the cover at that level? Im going to guess no. Regardless, thats great for her and hopefully she uses it to her advantage and makes herself the best player she can be.

But now that she's on the cover of a pool magazine, if she wants to gamble with me, she better be ready to give up some BIG weight!

I see a ring on her finger - looks like some American dreams will be dashed when they notice that.

Anyways, someone send me a free copy of this magazine so I can read the article. I don't know anywhere around here where it is sold and never wanted to risk signing up for a subscription.

p.s. Congrats to Oscar for Winning his first Major Title.

Hey Cris, how do you two match up? I was going to ask who had the ... oh nevermind. ;)

I've seen you have some really strong finishes lately and was just wondering how you stack up (if you care to share).

Thanks,

Matt

Matt...you are as wrong as 2 boys F@%#$##....well, nevermind

didnt want to risk signing up? Its $20/yr with a free hat or shirt or something else at any of the bigger tournaments. Hell it's 20 bucks worth of fun just coming on here and yelling about not reciving your copy!!

So, lets see, she won a CD tri state, and she came in 3rd in a BCD tri state.
She never won a JPNEWT event.

So she's not an A player or an open women's player or a Pro. Yet.

So considering that i haven't read the article, i don't know what angle it is playing.
I do not know if it is toting her as the next be all to end all of women's pool, or if it more of a "here we have someone who had this dream, and has worked hard towards achieving it"

Either way, if she can market herself, more power to her, but if someone actually thinking that this article is going to get people to respect her game as a force in female pool, it's not.

Only here game can accomplish that.
When she is dominating non handicapped pool tournaments or regional female tournaments, then she will have earned the respect of her peers.

Whether she delivers on that or not, is entirely up to her.

The Inside Pool editors must be using the same guidelines in their selection as the Nobel Peace Prize Commitee. :groucho:

Or they might be using the time tested tactic that sex sells.
Like the sports illustrated swim suit issue.

i'm sure they could have easily sold just as many copies with just a photo spread on her.

Like i said i haven't read the article.
We all know she's up and coming.

Can't make an informed decision without reading it, unless someone else wants to shed light on the nature of what the article says.

I met Borana when she came to our OB Cues Ladies Tour Oklahoma State 9 Ball Championship in July at Magoos in Tulsa, OK.

I found her to be a very nice, enjoyable and down to earth girl. She has the passion for the game that many of us have and she is out to fulfill her dream....and she is taking no prisoners. Same way I would do it, if I was only 30 years younger....

I was glad to see her make it to one of our events and hope to see her at more of them in the future.

Follow your dream and make it happen. All the best Borana.

Major title or not, she's still a very recognizable name and face in pool. She's a very classy woman and disciplined worker. Amazing how sharp her game is for how little time she has played. I am VERY sure she will have a major title soon and pool could use more players with her level of class and marketability.

Read the article before you judge.

Well thank you much for the run down, Chris. I know Borana, I also am from the Bronx. All you have mentioned above has no connection at all to what I meant, thanx.....Nothing personal bout her, I think she no's that comming from me. I'm talkin bout pool.........as a whole, not any ONE person..

Hey, thanx again for all the info bout your friend, it wuz a nice read.

Frankie

I was just about to post that pic.

She is absolutely stunning

. Oh that and i heard she very very good

Good article.

It's the run of the mill American pool dream profile.

Nothing wrong with that.

It doesn't mention the ability of her competition in the particular tournaments she played in, but that's besides the point.
It's not misrepresenting her ability, it's not really about her game.

It's about her dream about becoming a pool player and everything entailed in that.

Good luck to her.

.

Dashed?
Maybe for those guys with no game.
To those with a strong game, a wedding ring is not an obstacle.

It's simply a piece of jewelery. :D

Good- Now everyone can stop knocking her and let her enjoy the moment. She works hard and traveled all over the country just like Sarah R did to help make her dream come true. Go Get'm B!

AMEN!! Borana is as fierce a competitor as she is beautiful. No doubt you'll see her on tour one day.

1. OK, do I think Borana is beautiful on picture? :
YES - along wit all other skinny young *****es.

2. Do I think she deserve to be to be on on a cover of a Billiard Magazine??
I don't know...
When I did a comprehensive interview on Yu-Ram Cha, of her ildhood, trivials and obstacle of trying to compete in US soil (WPBA), a certain billiard magazine (not this one) told me that Yu-RAM didn't achieve enough to be on the cover, let alone a spot in it's maazine...
So, I am not saying these two magazines hold same or similar standards, but what did Borana do to hold a cover article? ** No, just stating a fact and wanting to know

3. Am I jealous of Bornana's exposure?
fugk no!!!! With all due respect to all her accomplishment...., I did not read the article, but "Don't you know who I am?"

** I will admit that she is hot and was once "rumored" to be tied with CB b... but what did she do to be on the cover?

Just asking...

S.
