bought a gc. need info on moving. please help!

Just look at the corner caps and feet. A II is silver, and a III is copper.

You will need socket set, and screwdrivers to break down the table.

You also may want to give John Burns (Scruffy) of this forum a call he is a table mechanic in MD.

God i hope i dont screw this up.

Anyone have the time to poast instructions on tearing down a gc II and a gcIII?

How do i tell if it is a 2 or a 3?

Please help a brother out!!!

Looks like its missing the trim on the foot rail? I love seeing the age of the tables and thinking about what they have seen over the years. Did ya get a good deal?

Table

It said on the link that the winning bid was $390. If you got it for that, you got a steal.

Its not that hard

Take pictures at every step of the take down and a video with audio if you can, sounds a little crazy, but it will help if you want to set it back up yourself....,

DO NOT MOVE IF NOT DISASSEMBLED... it will never be level again!

Wow, there were like 15 GC's that went for 200 to 400 each. A bunch of Diamond 7 or 8 footers for 1500, and a Diamond 9' Professional that was mislabeled as a GC and went for 1000.

What happened to this pool room?

Go to this link posted earlier in this thread. Scroll down towards the middle of the page till you find Gold_crown_111_pdf. Download it. Print it. Study it. Take it with you tomorrow.

Thats probably your best chance at understanding how the table is put together, and thus how you should take it apart.

I'm not a mechnaic, but I read that file, and also the GC1 and GC5 in the last hour and have a much better understanding of how the tables are built. I'd feel fairly confident taking a table apart after reading this file several times and bringing the printout with me.

Playing field

This came from Playing Field in Richmond, Virginia.

Wasn't this the room Billy Stephan used to own?

Unbelievable - the prices were very cheap!

Before you go call me 443-624-0912

I have an install manual you can borrow, and if you come over to my house I will run through with you how to take down a gold crown.

I saw that too.

They had a snooker table there too. I wonder if that was sold too.

Josh, (JMD_in_VA) lives in Richmond, maybe he could give us the scoop.

tony,

i missed this before i left the house. already on my way now. thanks anyway.

Keep us posted. It will be interesting to see this process unfold.

Nice score on the table.

the metal pocket castings are pretty worn, and the side boards on the rails, while not scratched, have some rough areas.

i think i just found a new project! im fairly handy, so i think im going to try refinishing the table before i set it up.

is antique billiards the only place around that sells new replacement parts?

Does anyone happen to know what type of rail rubber i should go with? also, what type did it originally have if different than your suggestions.

if anyone is interested, i'll try to do some before and after pics.
