Bummed-case stolen tonight

That is like saying the hot woman in the mini skirt deserved to be raped because she dressed like that.

Society today isn't getting any better, a lot more people are getting poor than people getting rich. People need money to survive and any person will do whatever it takes to survive, so with the way the world is today theft and violence are going to get a lot worst and probably won't get better for a century or 2 or at least till we as a species wake up and discover that people were happier before money and greed.

No, not the same thing...I'm all for lynching scumbags that steal stuff, especially in plain site, but leaving a $400 cue case unattended/unobserved for hours in a busy pool room is a recipe for disappointment in your fellow man. I'm not blaming the victim, it truly sucks...but there's a reason I always keep my cues/case within arms reach at all times, even taking it whole shebang with me into the bathroom when necessary. I've been there, been ripped off before, will not put myself in that position ever again--it'll have to be at gunpoint next time...

Update

To Westpoint-I agree with you. It takes two to tango. I was not vigilant. I got lax. I got burnt.

As CharlesUFarley states-it is a great group at league who watch out for one another's stuff. This probably factored into my error in judgement. I strongly doubt that it was taken by someone in the league. Actually, I hope it was -that would improve chances of getting it back.

In fact-Last week after league-outside on the patio, there was a case unattended. We brought it back inside. Another player opened the case and recognized the gear. Apparently, the player got too happy and left his case. It was returned to him last night. That's the kind of league crowd that Charles is referring to.

I was there today looking under tables and in trash cans and such in vain.

I did receive a call back a little while ago that the evening manager has invited me down to view some tapes of the area where I left my case.

We'll see where this leads-whether it provides any hope, or if it is time to let it go and move on.

The Captain Obvious observation: Keep an eye on your sh1t! A hard lesson that I have learned too late.

take care

ps: There can be no arguement that my inattention either contributed to or created this opportunity for whoever took my stuff. It is what it is. I sort of walked off and left the car running and unlocked-too tempting for somebody.

To the OP. I have an extra 1x2 I'm not using. Your welcome to it if you can cover shipping. Lemme know, I can send pics.

If you didnt........file a report at the location it occurred. Bring up the video to the officer. Biz will work with them more than you......same as the pawn shops. They can also make the pawn shop hold an item for investigative purposes if they find it. Remember......the pawn shops get money for stolen items ALL the time. They are looking at a loss if you find your stuff so get police involved. Be personable when filing your report. Youd be surprised what that adds to his day. More likely to do all that follow up for you if you stand out a little or just a nice guy. No donut jokes.....they are kinda old. Someone said Craigslist......good idea. Also check the other league for the teams that were there. Show up unannounced check everyones gear. Good luck

What part of the country are in?

Where did it happen?

A little more info might help - and I agree - thieves need to lynched.

Mark Griffin

Mark, He lives in socal , probably happen at Shooter. Will is a good friend and for their sake I hope I don't catch who took his case.

I viewed the security camera tape.

Not league players. Just a thief. FWIW I will get a copy of the snag downloaded to a flash drive.

Duh-me and a buddy are playing in the background on the tape while they walk off with the case.

I don't think its coming back. Unfortunately, they are not recognized as regular patrons, nor did they pay with a credit card.

I will put more time and effort into filing a police report because it is warranted. Plus I want to ask the police whether this video can be put up on youtube. My guess is that would be slanderous or some other kind of thief rights violation.

It's a bummer-but I have other cases and other shafts that I will watch more closely in the future. Lesson learned.

Thanks for the well wishes and other generous offers-they are appreciated and are reminders that most people are honest and trustworthy.

Hey Buddy
I hope you get the SOB that did this. Its a damn shame people have to be this way.
Wishing you the best. Take care
Jeff

I hope the theif gets hit by a wheat combine, mulched into a bale, and sold at the farmer's market by an old, toothless farmhand.

Either that or hopefully he doesn't look both ways before crossing the street and gets hammered by an out-of-control school bus filled with stale loaves of pumpernickel bread and rusty posthole diggers. With any luck, the bus will help catch him on fire and push him into the champagne room of a very, very gay bar.

F'n thieves.

Do you know these guys?

One in particular. He apparently confused my case with.......

Video extracted from cameras...maybe somebody in SoCal-Orange county might recognize someone. Not regulars at the pool room. Maybe hang at local bar/pub??

Just want case and contents back.

thanks

Wow

Was that your case on his shoulder ? Or was it the one he was carrying ?
One thought I did have was there was a time when someone took my case and left there name and number at the front counter. They thought I had left and left it behind. However , if this guy just picked it up without asking anyone there anything and walked out .....well you know ....he probably had plans on keeping it .:(

Maybe this guy will see this thread. Who knows???

And then return the case,,,,which would be fine,,,as we all already know he was planning on doing anyhow!! Ya know,,drop it off back at the pool hall and it's all good.

I'm betting your going to find this guy if that don't happen. Very good and clear pictures.

Better yet,,,,,,post a Wanted AD on craigs list in that area. Offer $50 to anyone who can ID the guy and give you a name and address. Tell the story too,,,if someone that knows him sees it,,they will at least let him know that the pictures are very clear, and he is busted.

List in same AD that all you want is your case back,,and it's all good.(providing that is the way you feel)

I would not hesitate to do this,,,if it were me in same situation.

Scumbag!

I hate cue and case thieves, they are only above computer virus scumbags.
At least you got the main things still, your playing and break cue. Did you have a seperate jump cue? 5 shafts being stolen isn't nothing, they can run a bit of money. Hope you catch the guy!

Go down and go through some mug books, bet he is in them...

I recommend printing up pictures and a reward offered and posting it up in that place and other poolhalls and pubs, I bet you get a phone call with someone letting you know who it is.

Don't give up hope. I was at Jillian's in Boston and put my leather jacket on a chair and was shooting pool. Went back to the chair at one point and the jacket was gone. Left my name and number with the management and 2 days later I got called that someone turned the jacket in. He left an apology note in the inside jacket pocket, right next to the $100 winning lottery scratch off ticket I had left in there.

Maybe this guy thought he was picking up his friends case, which he wouldn't be as familiar with, and was just moving to another table. That's sort of what it looks like in the video... one guy carrying the balls and the other grabbing the cues. I hope you get your stuff back and there is a happy ending.
