As I posted on here about my "Bubble Eye" a few months ago, I'm "Patch Eye" at least for today.
I detached a retina back at the end of September and my vision in my right eye has been somewhat "screwed up" ever since.
Once the retina was reattached, a bunch of "eye gunk" was floating around in my eye and it was kind of like an "oil patch" that would float in front of my vision every few seconds and make everything super blurry. My vision with my glasses on was close to 20-20, but the floating mass was driving me crazy because it was constantly moving around in my eye.
Today, I had surgery done to remove the gunk. It was out-patient and I have a patch on my eye until tomorrow when I go back for a follow-up.
Not to sound gory, but to put it in laymen's terms, they made two incisions in my eye and used a little "vacuum" to suck all the liquid out of my eye through one, while it was being replaced with saline solution through the other.
The doctor said all went well and I should be good to go. As a matter of fact, I was awake during the procedure and was talking to him during the whole time.
You wouldn't believe some of the "swirling" and "patterns" that were going on in my vision while it was being done. They had a super bright light in my eye and actually had a little flashlight inserted in my eye ball. I could see the little "vacuum" sucking the stuff up and the "gunk" going around in circles. Reminded me of something psychedelic.
The new "liquid" in my eye should be crystal clear when I get my patch off. I'm sure my vision may be screwed up from the trauma for a bit, but I'll be free of the "floating gunk".
Will let you know the outcome when I get the patch off.
I will be glad to play pool again as soon as I'm able to wear my contacts. Maybe I'll make a few more balls now.
Aloha.
