Hey Marcus,
GOOD JOB...... I knew you wouldn't let that one go... It looks like a great investment to me... Pete makes a great cue, and this one is special.. I know you don't want to see mine when it's completed..LOL

KEN,
I'M SURE YOU ALREADY KNOW YOU SHOULD CONSIDER YOURS SOLD.....TO ME.

The pictures of course are reduced from the full size sets.
The points are even, the veneers are mitred to sharp points and the veneers are slightly thicker than my Scruggs.
Maybe Marcus can chime in on the type of veneers they may be (I am slowly learning about the build process).
I am adding one more picture that does show the mitre work better.
If you send me a PM with your e-mail, I would be happy to share the details in full size pictures.

There are a total of 4 veneers (starting from the outer veneer):
Black
Red
Purple Kind of Red (best way to describe it)
Red again

If I missed responding something directly, let me know...
Myron
Please understand that I was NOT questioning Mr. Tascarella's point work quality - evenness/sharpness!!! His veneer work is so tight that I could not see the seam where the veneers meet at the point.

I also thought it was interesting that he alternated thick and thin veneers on this particular cue. It gives it a different look, but still traditional-looking.

I'm sure Ken was sworn to secrecy concerning the price.;)

The Billiards Encyclopedia by Stein and Rubino has a very nice pic of it. I also have a 8/12 x 11 pic of it that Barry gave me. Unfortunately my digital cam's USB port is broken so I can't take a pic of it to post up.

Barbara
Hi Barbara,
Always nice to hear from you... You are correct, all prices are strictly confidential.. The Billiards Encyclopedia has nice pictures of it...
The road trip Barry and myself went on to deliver the cue, was the best part of the deal..
More fun then two people should be allowed to have..
Best,
Ken

Do you have any photos you can post of The Last Cue? And the price was.....?

If you hafta ask you can't afford it.:) I, like most of us, would also hafta ask.:) :)

Also, I can't think of any cue dealer who would divulge pricing to a third party. How fair would that be to the principals in view of tax implications, potential resale, etc. I don't KNOW much but I do KNOW that if a dealer were that ignorant he/she would not be in action long.

Late!

sorry i got in so late Marcus! you know, Pete's cues are just "run of the mill". you only ended up with the saw dust. sorry. i know you are keeping my "gem" safe. "WE" KNOW THE DEAL! and your right, I AM YELLING ;)

Ok... I understand that Tascarella is using Balabushka's old machines and techniques... but $6,500? Come on, Guys! That is way too much!

There is something else about bidding I would like to mention. There have been cues I really wanted, so I entered in a bid amount that was high enough to scare off the bidders who just top whatever amount is showing.

Say in a crunch I would pay up to $3,000 for a cue but the bidding was only showing $1500. I might put in a snipe for $3025 to make sure I get it (in the evenyt that someone else puts in a 3K bid) , but I'm only expecting to pay maybe $2,000 or possibly even less for it.

If I get unlucky, someone does put in the 3K and I pay though the nose. I've also done this and lost the cue, and cost some other guy a $1000 in the process.

So, there can be quite a spread between what I expect to pay, and what I might end up really paying. Most of the time, the final price is less than my maximum bid. But occasionally you get nailed and pay full bore. Still, it's better to pay up and get what you want than lose it.

Tascarella's of this type are so rare, Markus actually just established the market price for this cue.

I fully agree

edit - I left my desk for a few minutes then posted, odd how Scott said the exact same thing and even bolded it as well...... now that's scary......

Carolina Cues

I've been told by someone who has just accepted a job from the Petes that there is a shop going online in North Carolina that is going to start banging out catalogue model cues. Is this the fate of Tascarella cues or just a side project??

WELL I'M GLAD YOU ANSWERED IT FIRST JOE. THIS HAS NO REAL ASSOCIATION WITH TASCARELLA CUSTOM CUES. LIKE JOE SAID PETE SR'S CUES ARE IN NO WAY ASSOCIATED WITH THE SHOP IN CAROLINA.

THE FIRE SALE IS NOT GONNA HAPPEN. I HAVE FAITH THAT I HAVE A STABLE FULL OF BLUE CHIP CUES, AND I'M HOLDIN ON TO THEM.

P.S. IF ANYBODY ELSE IS GOING TO START A FIRE SALE ON PETE'S CUES PLEASE CALL ME FIRST.
