In Michigan, we took a tip from Florida. After we passed a "Shall Issue" right to carry law, we passed the "Castle Doctrine", similar to or modeled after Florida's statute. What that basically says is, A man's home and car are his castle. If someone enters by force it will be assumed that they had bad intent and planned to do great bodily harm to the inhabitants. It does NOT have to be determined that they are armed before using deadly force! I'm paraphrasing, but I'm just trying to make it clear what one thing is that the people in the 'fed up' states have decided to do about violent crime. We're tired of being victims of criminals waiting for the police to arrive! The police are overloaded already, and can't be there to protect you...Tom

How do you realy feel about this? :D
Guess you won't be voting democrat anymore. They want strict gun control and try to make it hard for anyone to have a gun. By the way, they're also against the death penalty. Republicans are against gun control unless you're a criminal and are for the death penalty. But I'm probably preaching to the choir cause you probably already knew all that.

Co-sign.
I know the police are overloaded, but they're also (for the most part) a bunch of guys who enjoy getting to the criminals as much as you would like to get to them. A large percentage of them are "very aggressive" towards violent criminals, which is always a good thing.:)

If I wanted some good targets to practice on it would be EVERYONE in both parties. Not a one of them doesn't owe someone something for helping them get elected. NONE of them can be honest anymore (as if many ever were) it cost too damn much to get elected. Probably cost $100,000 to get elected Mayor of a piss-ant town now a day. Don't even get me started. That's another good point. Too expensive for normal people to afford to run for anything worthwhile.

this thread has nothing to do with a conceal carry issues or the right to open carry..... This is to try to get the word out in the twin cities to get back Jr. ASAP......

I do have a permit...... but this crime would not put that into play.... for all those gun slingers .....know your law before you go out with a firearm. before you let that lead go you should know what your in for.... even if your life is threatened... yes I am a firearm safety instructor

again I hope Jimmy gets back Jr. as soon as possible

And that's what brought us to this thread as well. But, we're deep now into this thread and a few of us are just standing around with our hands in our pocket BSing after things slowed down a bit. Just making small talk. Our talking is not really hindering the investigation.

Your other points are well taken as well. You're not the only one with firearm experience who loves pool.:) The gun advocates were only speaking on what would happen in a worse case scenario, I'm sure.
 
man i hope this doesn't throw the thread off too much but do you gun enthusiasts really shoot people or do you just talk all that tough guy talk. i've seen people get shot and been shot at myself. it no good i tell you that much
 
Wow- Jimmy was robbed at gunpoint in a hotel once and now this carjacking. I hope he gets Junior back!

I have questions

1) Was his car unlocked?
2) If not, was the window left part way down for JR?
3) What kind of dog is JR?

In Kansas, it is against the law to leave an animal unattended in a car, but I am a big dog lover, and I hope they get the SOB!

Walden awhile back (pre IPT) has his car stolen and all his cues, etc.. in Arkansas.
 
If he was car-"jacked" he was in the car, and had his car taken from him, probably at gunpoint. To have your car stolen with your DOG still in the car Is about as bad as it gets. GL jimmy

All Jimmy Wetch could do was watch as the thief sped off with his SUV, and all he can remember was staring into the rear window, into the eyes of his dog, who was still inside.

"My dog was in the back window looking at me like, "What's going on? Why are you over there? Where are they taking me?" Wetch recalled Monday.

The whereabouts of JR - who answers to "Junior" - a 5-year-old dachshund, were unknown Monday.

"Somebody has to have my dog," pleaded Wetch, owner of Jimmy's Pro Billiard's in Columbia Heights, where JR, clad in a "spiked collar to make him look macho," is a regular.

"He's just great," Wetch said. "He just roams around the pool room and talks to the people. It's like a family atmosphere, and a lot of it's because of him, and he's part of the family."

In the early morning hours of Sunday, Fridley police received a report of a vehicle stolen "with a black wiener dog in there," said Capt. Brian Weierke.

Here's how JR got jacked:

Around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Wetch was driving home to Fridley after closing up the pool hall on Central Avenue. He pulled his Suzuki 2000 Grand Vitara into a Super America to "run in and get some ice cream and maybe some dog treats."

He parked "right in front" of the door. He noticed another car parked on the side with two shady-looking fellows covering their faces and thought they looked suspicious. "But I didn't follow my instinct," he said.

Wetch said he usually doesn't leave his keys in the car. "But

Moments later, the passenger of the other car jumped into Wetch's SUV and both vehicles sped off. Wetch ran out in time to see JR staring out the back window.

He said he yelled to the cashier as a bystander piped up: "I should have known something was up. That dog was barking like crazy."

But Wetch said JR is too friendly to scare even a skittish thief. "I'm sure if someone attacked me, he might let out a loud bark or something, but that's all it would be," he said. "He's only 11 pounds."

Police combed the area, in case the thief had let JR out, but they came up empty-handed. Weierke said investigators had no leads.

The theft of his vehicle and dog is just the latest blow to Wetch, an accomplished pool pro who has had to leave the national circuit to tend to his business. Three weeks after he bought the pool hall outright in 2005, two men were killed in a gang-related shooting that began with a brawl inside. Even though none of those charged was a regular at Jimmy's, the publicity hurt business, he said.

Dec. 1 will be the 10-year anniversary of the poolroom's opening, and a party had been planned. But now Wetch said he's not sure how he feels without JR.

"I'm 39 and have no kids, so Junior's important to me."

Weierke urged anyone who knows anything to call the Anoka County Sheriff's Office at 763-427-1212.
