Casting New TV Show: POOL HALL KINGS

Go to the Derby City Classic tournament..

9 days of action.. there is season one right there.

^^^THIS^^^

If you are serious about casting a TV show about pool gamblers and/or hustlers get on a plane now and get to the Derby City Classic, it is a once a year thing where they pretty much ALL get together and the action (gambling) there has been real high this year. You won't need to audition people, you will simply be able to walk around and watch the show you are trying to produce in live action.

Other then that, I would recommend talking to Billy Incardona. He knows pretty much every pool player/gambler out there, he gets into a lot of action, and he has boatloads of charisma, has been around the pool scene for decades, and is a major "face" in the pool world. I would get him into the show first and foremost and then let him lead you to the other people. Go to the Derby, he is there...

Well, this may be good for pool...it has a chance...so let's BASH it!! email sent.

lol....exactly what I was thinking, reading these "replies" to the OP's polite request.

Good luck and good fortune with the show!!!

But wait.. how do we know this is real? oh right.. anyway be sure to give him your SSN in your pm's

I don't know about you, but the way I know this is real or not is to try to find out for myself. That way I don't have to look like a paranoid fool. Why in the world would I send my ssn for anything??

Major Hollywood production company casting for a fun, edgy, sensationalized new TV show that would follow the real lives of POOL HALL KINGS - modern day pool hall gamblers, sharks, hustlers, etc. Ideally we’d find (or assemble) a noted/infamous group of talented, big personality, knock around pool players who challenge each other and throw their hard-earned money on the line in the process. And obviously have a little fun along the way.

If you think you, your friends, your local pool hall or someone you know would be a good fit for the show, please reach out to introduce yourself at poolhallkings@gmail.com.

Sorry to spam your forum, but since this seems to be the best one on the web, I figured it would be good place to get to word out! Thanks!

This sounds great BUT, is there any info you can give to your credibility? Usually people present business cards or some LOGO's. Or a main website. All I see is bronze and gmail. goodluck with that

Here my point oh twos worth.

1. I have been into metal detecting for years and been involved in a metal detecting forum for the same amount of time. They did a reality TV show about metal detecting. It was great for the industry in the sense that it sold more equipment but it was bad for detectorists because it portrayed them in a bad light. NO ONE I know of acts like those idiots on that show. EVERYONE on the metal detecting forum hates the show because of the idiots on it.

2. My brother makes his own whiskey and other spirits. He is involved in a forum about stills and such. They made a reality show about making moon shine. They found the type of people that they wanted to exploit and made their show. The people on the forums hate the show and the way it portrays what they do.

3. Preppers. I have a good friend that is considered a prepper. Same story as above. He hates the show because they seek out people that make what they do look stupid.

There are several other examples I'm sure. The point is, sure it can have a positive effect on pools economy, but it will likely have a longer lasting negative effect on how people view us. Maybe this show could be the exception, I doubt it but who knows. I don't have anything against gambling or there being a show about pool gambling/hustling. But they tend to seek out the biggest dumbass in the room and exploit him to death.

Be careful what you wish for.

Done, gave him my ssn for w2 reasons of course. Name, address, and bank account # for direct deposit cuz i like convenience. Haven't heard anything yet but i'm rdy!! Weird I just got a bunch of notices of withdrawals from Texas, wtf?!!?

As the politician who got caught with his hand in the till, said:

"As long as they spell my name right."

I know it's hard to accept, but bad publicity is better than no publicity. Think of it this way: If a show about pool hustling's ugly side becomes popular, that opens the door for shows about pool's good side like high school competitions, charity events, etc.

The first job is to get in the public eye, good or bad.

I hope the producers have the good sense to include lots of hot babes in the players' entourage.

I will be back from the Derby Monday and I will put you people in the right direction -- the action side of the game!

Get it right man...

Good lawd, I thought that was a Canuks version of the word puntang!

(Especially when you consider the context: "Just so you know in advance, I'm from Canada, I say Eh a lot. I also work for beer and Poutine.")

You are confusing Poutine with Puntang!!!

I know what you mean , I hunt ginseng and that new show makes all of us out to be dirty dumb hillbillys, some of us are from the city!

Al Mason isn't the best, but he may be among the best entertainers in pool. Here is a link to a video with one of my favorite players, Charlie "Hillbilly" Bryant. BTW, the video stream is not slow and then jumping fast. That is Al at his best. Both of these guys are great for tv. I believe both are in Houston right now.

Another good one is Tony Watson. Great poolplayer and entertainer. Definately a "gambler." You will not see his best game unless the stakes are high, tho. He's the only opponent that SVB has never beaten, I believe.

Lastly, from the "Color of Money," "Keither the Ether" McCready, another of my favorites. I believe that he may still have some beef with Hillbilly over a cough at the Houston Open. Maybe you'll see some action if you can get them together. Maybe JAM will chime in here about Keith. I may be able to contact several of the other, if you do get serious. I am sure there are others in closer contact with them than me, tho.

Good Luck,

Go to Bufalos billiards in Louisiana...close to New Orleans. One of the only true pool rooms left .There you will find Lock n Load and Joey A .From those two sources you should get enough leads to the kind of characters you are looking for . If it were up to me you could bounce of those twos experience and have a great show just from that.

Really Al Mason?? That would be one of the WORST choices ever.....

You shouldn't have any problem at all finding a bunch of losers who are more than willing to make pool look like s*** for a few bucks.

Gimme a break

Sounds like there's potential to it, if they have a decent enough budget i'm sure a few well knowns may come out of hibernation

If something like this show happens it will happen here on this forum for sure.

All the 'experts' will rip it right and left but the more casual viewers will eat it up.

Car guys do this now concerning the street outlaws show,Fast n' Loud etc. You visit the facebook pages and there are a lot of negative bashing comments....but they watch and everyone but the 'purests' likes it just fine. The people in niche group activities always seem to take themselves to seriously I'm, afraid and a lot of them take the fun out of it for themselves. I say this having been an avid hot rodder, bike racer and pool player among other things like this in my life time. Are the shows a bit scripted?...yes but they are fun to watch and that is the key:)

That said bring on the show!:grin-square:

PS...as connected as people are now on the web for the pool show to work the participants will have to really play for it be legit. For example if you do some diggin' on the Street Outlaws guys they are legit racers with fast fast cars that you can see on youtube or in person if you see them at the track. Now are they THE fastest period?..probably not but they do have some damn fast cars.
