Chapter 5, Not Giving up on the Road

A buck a rack.

I would be All In for 100 racks until I got Pumped Up again.

It is easy for you to sit on the side lines, and be an armchair quarterback. Maybe she is in a part of the USA that is still dealing with the recession, and a buck a rack is what people have to put at risk, and no more. Hell 1500 win at a buck is big money to most.

I get the feeling many time that Blue Hog ridr runs on gears, and there is no HEART inside your chest.

I started playing a guy for $1.00 a game one night..........

That is ridiculous

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

And ended up winning $9,995.00.

We played for 12 hours.

The last 2 games we played for $3,000 each.

Who would have thought that this would happen. ?

I was only 19 years old at the time. The guy thought I was an idiot.

So sometimes when you give a spot for $2,00 or get a spot for $2.00 anything can happen.

Players get caught up in the heat of the battle. You can always asjust the spot and certainly the money......;)

Was he a white guy named Bald Mike?

Have you been to Austin lately. Fastest growing city in the US, strongest job growth in Texas. Plenty of jobs to go around. Hell, Rhea could even find one if she looked. She could find money games if she wanted them, she just likes to find the fish, and get the nuts. There arent any left in Skinnys willing to gamble for anything because they know her game.

The amount I bet is usually relative to the amount of my bankroll, and how many barrels I'm willing to put at risk. I have been known to bet anything from $0.25 to $200.00 per rack and quite frankly do not care or play any differently for the lower or higher amounts. It just depends how pumped up or down on my luck I am.

Yesterday was a different story, I was willing to play $25 sets but Craig did not show up until late last night and he still didn't feel like playing after I beat him out of $90 the other night.

Craig is a low A player and I beat him even.

Never been to Austin, Sean Hannity always talks about the BOOM in Midland. Maybe Rhea is in her comfort zone, as she is not traveling with a back like Bert in the Hustler Movie.

Rhea live you life they way you wish, bet as you wish, don't ket the Keyboard Commandos, and Arm Chair Quarterbacks who have zero at risk. Spend your money, or tell you how to spend your money.

JMHO

Yes Corncobalo, thats me, no heart.

Now, has anyone seen Dorothy?

Once I find the Wizard I'll be set.

Again CC, I believe that you've missed the point of
the majority of these posts.

But you continue to think you know me.

I always keep a few dollar coins inmy right hand pocket for people who ask.

I will take one out and toss it on the ground.

When people are forced to pick them up, it makes
me feel powerful.

There was a THREAD CALLED, "passing the hat for rhea”

Apparently Removed by Moderation
.

I suggested Rhea should think about become an 18 Wheeler Driver, and Running the Roads. Yes they still need Truckers to run 48 & Canada

She could go to a CDL School.

Graduate.

Work as a Trainee for Swift or Warner, as their driver do sit for day on end.

If she has a CLEAN Criminal & Driving Record, she would qualify.

Grants & loans for School are available.

After getting her own truck, she would find time between driving, to go to local Bars and Play Pool for money.

At Nights or Days end she could return home to her Cab, and drive on to her net dispatch.

She would have a Job

A Place to sleep

Steady income, or a sort

and last time to play pool in many places.

Even some Truck Stops have Bar Boxes.

JUST an idea.

Besides she has experience sleeping in an 18 Wheeler.

maybe i'm missing something, and maybe things have changed since TCOM came out, but isn't the point of going on the road to make money?

$1 a game, with $9 in drinks and $20 in foods...

For someone with limited funds (sleeping in bus stations and breaking into trucks indicated that you have limited funds) $29 in food and drinks is a lot no?

First, what's wrong with tap water? Second, two words: Dollar Menu.

Math again:

$101 over two days
-$32 ($3 in losses, $9 in drinks, $20 in food)

$69. (minus taxes on the room and food and drinks for first two days)

3 days in this town, at the very least, and you're up $40 maybe?

Do you really need to go on the road to get $1 games? Or for that matter $25 sets?

If you're trying to build back up your bankroll to play for bigger money I don't see how $1 a game is gonna do it - while at the same time spending $29 on food and drinks.

If you're planning on writing a book, as indicated, I don't think people would be interested in reading $1 a rack stories. Or how you beat an unknown low A player for $90. Hell, we just saw two forum members settle an arguement for 20K. Over AIMING.

You really need to rethink your "business plan" here.

Lots of people ridicule the small dollar sets, but if you think about it it's the only way to go to make it playing pool at the supposed level Rhea plays. ;);)

Very few others are going to hustle you for 5 dollars a rack. You can play inferior players without a spot, and they probably won't be angry if they lose. Let's say you spend 12 days an hour playing pool. You play about 8 racks an hour (with a couple of good, long breaks). You win about 60% of the time. (8 * 5) * 7,2= 288 dollars. Not a great days pay for extremely skilled work for someone without a home, but at least you are "barely" staying alive. Sure beats grout work at 40 dollars a day.:D

Same math with 2 dollars a rack: (8*2)*7,2=115.2 dollars a day. Even that is better than grout work!:D

Then there is the small matter of making enough games and keeping the winning percentage at 60:rotflmao1:

Do you mean "grunt work" ?

First off, she's giving a spot for $1 a game, so she's not playing even, and she's not in big action of $5 or even $2 a rack.
She didn't end up winning. (Lost $3 for the night.) So she's not winning at a 60% rate.

She's "on the road". There are expensive associated with being "on the road". Food, lodging, gas, etc.

12 hour days are long days. A regular work day, for most, is 8 hours.

at $2 a rack, 60% win rate, 8 hours - that's $76.
at $5 a rack, 60% win rate, 8 hours - that's $193.

Hotel was $89, plus taxes, and she ate and drank $30. She'd be down $43 at $2 a rack and she's be up $73 at $5 a rack. So, she's basically making $10 an hour after expenses IF she gets a $5 a rack game and wins 60% of them.

Good luck with that.

I'll probably piss my pants, and not even be mad about it, if I ever read one of these gambling road warrior stories where Rhea says she had to give up the nuts. :D

Holy $hit...I've tried to stay away from the sex change jokes but I have to admit this had me rolling on the floor!
