Great guess, that's what it is. I was surprised when I turned it round at how white it was.

Joe

I've been using some buck/deer antler for ferrules as well. You're right, you never know what you're going to get when you turn it down. You can bleach them ahead of time, but the bleaching doesn't go very deep.

Looks good!

Questions

What is the benefit of using deer antler as a ferrule material? I have no problem with it so long as it is very white and doesn't have the black specs in it like you so often see.

To me the material seems dense and heavy which is typically what most players are looking to avoid. This is the reason for all the low deflection shafts as to have as light a front end as poosble correct????

Opinions please.

Thanks

Kevin

They are not any harder or heavier than melamine or ivorine or Sabre T.

Kevin,

They are as close as I will ever come to ivory, so I wanted to see what they hit like. Also, I am designing my cues to reflect unusual wood patterns and not so much points, inlays, and other "bling". So I feel the buckhorn plays into the "natural" theme of my cues, but I have lots of Ivor-X, Melamine, LBM, Juma, and other un-named plastic etc. for ferrules as well.

Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against "bling" as I put it, in fact my player has it - like others here, I rarely get back around to working on "my" cue, so it sits and waits for me. :(

My 2 cents,

Gary
