A while back I played this guy some cheap sets and was beating him easy. Last night he wanted some more with some weight. We agreed on a game and started playing.
I fell into dead stroke and was having one of those nights when he asked for a short break and went outside. A buddy of mine who was sweating the match went outside for a smoke (and to check on what he was doing). He comes back in and tells me this guy is getting high outside and to watch out because when he is high he gets a little erratic.

So when he came back in he was flying and rearing to go. I figured if he was going to try and do this to get a edge on me I would change tactics on him. It turns out that meth heads REALLY hate slow play.

After about an hour of this he pulled up and took off. I don't really like to slow play anyone but I figured he had it coming.

How do you all handle the speed freaks? Back in my day it was the same thing except that they were doing coke instead of meth. The coke heads didn't worry me as much as the meth addicts do, but they can both be tuff to deal with when things go wrong.

The first step

The first step is admitting you have a problem, playing druggies for cash! You better get help, before its too late.

All I can say is keep a close eye on your cues, especially if he has any of his buddies with him. Also if you play him agian make him post.

I would agree if it were true. When we started playing I didn't know about his habit, but I don't feel bad for beating him, I think he is the one who needs to learn a lesson.

I agree, but I wont be playing him again. There is little to gain from this guy. I was just playing cheap sets with him to have something to do while I waited for my match. I wasn't looking for a payday.

I have had cues stolen from me twice before, I hope there is a special punishment in the afterlife for cue thieves!

I think the slow play was an excellent tactic. gets them mad enough to quit, but not mad enough to want to fight :D

Yeah, kind of what I was thinking too. I'm 6'2" and about 235 lbs and in decent shape but I think I would have had my hands full with this guy.

You can always carry a pistol or a blade if you know you going to be in shady areas with sketch people

Never understood how people can play like that. I know a guy that shoots really good pool, but plays lights out after doing some coke. Seems like it would stiffen you up and make you jittery.

Yeah, I have known a few in my time as well but in the end, the drugs always seem to get the better of them. Our pro sports like baseball and football are no different really. Steroids are rampant in most pro sports. It may help them in the beginning but they all pay a huge price in the end.

meth

I havent ever met anyone that did meth for any amount of time it doesnt screw up sooner or latter.

If you want there money go for it, me I dont want there money drugs or friendship.

It is insane how people on meth live there life.

Pool, meth, alcohol, gambling========== trouble

We have a guy who comes into our league room, we call him cokehead. I dunno if that's actually the problem or what. Will usually play Smooth Criminal on the jukebox and then dance to it. Singles someone out and then BLAH BLAH RA BLAH BLAH at a mile a minute quite loudly.

Likes to shoot pool but can't really play. I can't be around people like that. It makes me nervous and honestly kind of fills me with disgust that someone is so out of control and doesn't know or care that they look like a clown to everyone in the room.

Best thing is to stay away from junkies, period. Where i grew up dope was rampant in the 70,s and someone was ODing every other week. I seen enough of that to last two lifetimes, nothing good comes from those people and from what i understand, meth is maybe the worst of all drugs.

But as you said, you didnt know the guy had a problem so now that you do, you just avoid him and anyone in his company.

Gotta be careful Bud. I know you said you are a big guy but certain substances can make people turn into animals.

I have no experience with it in pool but when I had my taxi on the road, experienced it late at night many times and it can be scary. One of the reasons as to why I lease out my taxi plate now and got out of driving. Just too dangerous if you're not carrying. I carried a spring handle black jack but that doesn't do any good in close quarters sometimes. Never had a zapper but wished I did many times. Canada, good luck getting a gun.

I have seen people turn in the blink of an eye.

That would be a good time to answer a call from your 'dispatcher' and tell everyone around you how tiresome it is working for the DEA.

I use meth occasionally during long sessions to help me concentrate. However I never use it for recreational purposes.

I have to disagree. I think that is bad advice. If you think you will need a weapon to defend yourself where you are going ... ask yourself if you really should be going there!! Just sayin'.

You win 100% of fights you are not in.

In some tactical training circles there is saying that has come about to describe putting yourself in bad situations: "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes." Its amazing how much easier life becomes when you stay out of weird places at weird times with weird people. More boring but much much easier.
