ridewiththewind said:Right off the bat...you just do not see all that many ebony full splices (sneaky pete type)....ebony is getting VERY expensive, and many makers are beginning to reserve it for their higher end cues.Your saying expensive ebony makes an awesome cue? Ebony pete blanks are not overly expensive. You are right about not seeing many of them.
I have owned fancy cues in the past....but in the last couple of years, I come to have a love affair with the full splice cue...both with veneers and without. A lot of work goes into these cues, not to mention the waste in materials....these cues are terribly under-appreciated by many.I agree
I know for some, this type of cue....especially when very well crafted...harkens us back to a day when we all first picked up a barstick and approached the table the first time.....at which point the hook was pretty much set! :banghead:
Lastly....ebony into maple just plain looks good!! Perhaps not as good as Brazilian does, but I would guess it comes in a very close second!!! :smile2:
You said ebony into maple just looks good(and I agree), not looks awesome.

I didn't specifically mean this cue, I hear about a lot of simple or plain cues being called awesome.
