Cisero Murphy's biography...

Just because it is 95 pages
doesn't mean you have to read them all at once

don't knock a mans work and the memory of a pool
legend just because the book is so long
You already told us you could not afford it

So why keep knocking

Cicero Murphy was a real talent
I saw him on the Wide world of Sports back in the 60s

I think he deserves a little recognition

The person that used to post on here was most likely a fraud, sorry to say!! My grandfather has been deceased since "96"... However, yes I am the 1st born grandchild of the real Cisero S. Murphy.

Just a little history for some of you young players that do not understand what Black People had to go through not really that long ago!

The price range for Big City Nights: The Biography of the Legendary Cisero Murphy is from $15 to $65. However, I hope this clears up the fallacy regarding the cost while simultaneously changing your mind!!

So for the special editions your site says: "This literary piece includes a personalized autograph with other bonuses."

The personalized autograph thing is kinda throwing me -- whose autograph do you get that it can be personalized long after his passing?

come on lou
it is obvious that the book will be autographed by the author
common practice

quit looking for everything to be as devious as a
pool hall dump,i am sure you are familiar with
those

why pick on the kid?

if you want a book buy it,if you don't look elsewhere to
show your fanny

i didn't think pool players liked knockers

Thanks for the great article link. However I think the author hangs around the atypical kind of bars -- what is this all about (the word I've highlighted in blue):
--------------------------------------------------------------
"For this select audience the destruction was a joy to behold. The game is fourteen-one—otherwise known as straight pool—but by any name it is sweet torture. Let any two ordinary sharks play it, mincing around a table and ........"
------------------------------------------------------------
As most will already know, that word means . . . " Affectedly dainty or delicate."

Greetings Lou & Garczar,

I am sorry if the $15 - $65 range seem to be out of your wallet comfort. The book depicts the actual life of my grandfather and not the more than certain lies or semi-truth everyone has heard over the course of years.

If you gentlemen admired my grandfather as you have portrayed in these posts, then there is no excuse why you cannot or have not secured your copy. When someone wants something, they make it happen by any means necessary. Fallacies aside, this book is a historical piece that will get the respect it deserves.

Now, whether or not, you gentlemen are "trying to bust my chops" or "be funny" remains to be seen and I am up for a good back & forth joke fest, but what I will not tolerate is the downplay and/or disregard of my grandfather's biography book, especially when his greatness & uniquness has not been repeated.

However, to answer some of the common sense inquiries, the books are autographed by me and/or personally autographed to the buyer. Again, you can buy the book @ http://www.MurphyEntSolutions.com Then, click the MES Book Store Link.

Greetings Jimmyg,

Yes, this individual is a fraud. We do not have any Murphy related family in Atlanta, GA. There have been alot of people pretending to be family to get a spotlight or whatever perks they can out of people and/or businesses.

This particular "Mr. Lucky" is an individual by the name Phil C.that has lied about being my grandfather's nephew to all of GA and whomever else. However, no worries everyone, it has and will be address each an every media interaction I have partake in.

Not too long ago I paid $600 for a particular 1st edition I was interested in, so the price of your book doesn’t particularly bother me.

My question was simply: whose “personalized” autograph do you get? Thanks for the answer, though I could have done without the rest.

Tyriek, I don't think you'll need to worry about anyone on this forum of passionate pool players disrespecting the great career of your late Grandfather - Cisero Murphy. I plan to purchase and read your book.

I won't pass judgment until I read your book, however, my first reaction is that 95 pages to cover the remarkable life of Cisero Murphy and the obstacles he faced in his journey to becoming a world champion in the pool world is a little disappointing.

Nonetheless, I congratulate you for your efforts in completing this book and in celebrating and sharing the legacy of your late Grandfather, Cisero Murphy! Best of luck in your book's success!

Just one story about the Great Cisero Murphy. It was the last tournament Mosconi ever played, in Burbank, CA in 1966. He had been lured out of retirement by a promoter named Arnie Satin. It was a sixteen man round robin 14.1 "World Championship." All great players, the best of that era. It came down to Joe Balsis and Mosconi with matching records. If Willie could win his last match against Cisero he would be the champ. If he lost Balsis would get the victory.

Cisero shot him down in cold blood, running an eighty something and tying Willie up in knots. Willie went crazy afterwards, attacking Satin with the second place trophy. Lucky for Willie he didn't come after Cisero. That would not have ended well for him and he knew it, being careful to shake Murphy's hand after the loss. Then he flipped out on Satin.

Personally I can't wait to get my copy of this book. He has been one of my favorite players ever.

Greetings ChrisinNC,

No, I am not worried about any form of disrespect on this thread. I just want to make sure that the information on here or outside of here is accurate and not misleading, there has been enough of that throughout the years.

Simultaneously, I want people to have a objective mind in whether or not they want to purchase the book and not make a decision based upon someone else saying the book is not long enough or too expensive.... we spend hundreds of dollars on a quality cue stick, so there should be no difference on what the product may be, if you are accustom to quality!!

I am not sure if you ordered within the last 24 hrs, if so, just know your order, among the 121 orders, were mailed out last night and this morning.... Thanks and enjoy your copy!!

As the title suggested, it looks like there's about to be a biography published about the BCA Hall of Famer Cisero Murphy.

$50 seems a bit steep but I bet it's a great read...

On another note, if they ever made this into a movie, who do you think would play a good Murphy?

My vote goes to Donald Glover (the new Lando Calrissian)!
Just curious if anyone here has purchased, received and read this book yet? It's been over a week since this thread was popular. The author, Cisero's grandson, came on to tout the book and claimed that the initial book orders received had been processed and sent out. My initial impression was that it was on the short side (95 pages) for such an illustrious career, but I don't wish to judge the value of this book based on that alone. I was just interested in reading a few reviews from those who've read it before ordering. Thanks

To protect their investment, hollywood would insist on casting bankable actor like Will Smith, Morgan Freeman, James Earl Jones, or Denzel Washington.

Denzel Washington is my favorite actor. IMO he could excel at any role.

Has nothing to do with size of my wallet, pal. I don't like e-books and i wouldn't pay 25bux for a 95page paperback regardless of the subject. I wish you well.

Having read the whole thread, I think you have been a bit hard on the author. You don't need to defend yourself....your purchases are your choices, nuff said.

The price of book nowadays, e-book or hard or soft cover, is outrageous. Not a price I'd be willing to spend, either. No offense, that's just the way it is. I worked in the book production industry for 27 years and books have just gotten more and more expensive. Smaller publishers are often more expensive that large ones.

So I did order my book today can't wait to get it the young man who wrote the book seems like a nice guy
