CJ Wiley vs Jeremy Jones Up Next - Ultimate 10 - Mon 530pm est

You cannot teach the cure to what went wrong in that match. Any more than Ponce de Leon could find the fountain of youth. I guess he doesn't need to come on here an make excuses, you can take care of it for him.

JC

Somehow I don't think Neil would be first in line to make excuses for CJ.... :p

More like a considered opinion, is all. And given their history here, a refreshing one.

For whatever it's worth, everybody hopes to get a good draw when they are at a tournament like this. It seems to me that C.J. got an unlucky draw if he pulled Jeremy Jones the first round.

He can plow his way through the B side of the charts and still do just fine. :)

He could but the whole speedo / snowshoes thing makes for a mighty tough trek.

I'd like to see him move through but to do so while keeping his emotions in check, basically, I'm referring to trying to not show his frustration as much as he did in this match with JJ.

I am guilty of this from time to time, myself, but I really do try to keep it to a minimum.

I've always considered this to be fuel for my opponent, them seeing me mad over how things are going.

We all can't be Ralf Souquet but in a game where every possible edge should be taken, you shouldn't display this for your opponent to enjoy.

May or may not effect the outcome. But it could. ;)

best,
brian kc

Some call it analyzing what went wrong so that they can correct it, or learn from others mistakes. That group tends to get better at the game. Others call it making excuses and don't want to hear about it at all. That group tends to stay at the same level they are at. Some like to learn, some don't. You are free to be in whichever category you want to be in.

C.J. ain't been in combat like some of the tournament soldiers out there. I gotta give him a high-five for even stepping into the pit.

The Ustream and/or TV table puts added pressure on players. These tables sometimes play differently than the others because of heat from the lights, et cetera.

I remember missing ball in hand in the Maryland State Championship for women. I was so nervous. I couldn't make a duck shot. I could feel every eyeball in the joint staring at me. :embarrassed2:

It's easy to critique from the rail. When you're caught up in the heat of the battle, sometimes your strategies may go out the window. That's pool! ;)

Don''t do it.

oh come on, one little comment.

Don't! Step away from the keyboard.

puleeeese, I promise to make it kinda cute.

Stop it!!! Control yourself -- go look at another thread.

ok. But this is like, well, it's so ripe with possibilities.

Do it now. Go look at the Wanted/For Sale section.

shoot. OK. (sigh). You're right. Self control and all that...

Ah, well, they both are going into the losers, as JJ is against SVB.

Hey, I've learned over the years that short races in tournaments, well, anything can happen. :o

Like horse races, it's never a given that the favorite always wins!

Aren't you the guy that CJ offered like the last 5 to if you'd play him on TAR for $1 and you moon-walked out of the thread?

So CJ lost 10-6 to one of the top players in the U.S -- all while CJ has clearly been busy making instructional videos instead of playing like JJ. If he lost 10-0, you might have a point, but that would be more like your score playing him.

Also...a great job by Jay and Danny on the commentating...

I second that. I really enjoy listening to them both. Jay has a very unique way of asking questions like he really doesn't know (which we know he does) and keeping the audience informed. I'm really enjoying these two in the booth !

Jam its not getting any easier for CJ. Hes playing Donny Mills on the losers side right now. Donny played really well earlier against Dechaine. Not looking good for CJ,

lol. Sorry about that. But it's like "Dr. Strangelove" when Peter Sellers, playing the paralyzed doctor, has to fight his hand from doing bad things :-)

It's about like that for me right about now.

playing good at home is one thing, being in action, tourny tuff, is another thing. sometimes it takes a while to get the fight out of the gym and into the ring. thats why its called ring rust. one race to 10 alt break dont mean anything. no matter if he gave up or gave it his all, its just not enough for anyone to get the fight back again. win or lose

I remember a thread where someone posted a shot on the game ball and there was a big debate on center ball vs outside English and Donny was adamant that the shot needed a touch of outside.
