Turned the volume off, was better then.
The bottom line is that there are a lot of good pool videos being produced by Inside Pool that will forever be completely ruined by Alvin Nelson's verbal "contributions".
Watching pool in silent mode is a lame thing to tell someone to do. All that is required is a simple improvement in the commentary. Alvin Nelson has refused to do this. The suggestions were elliptical and hinted at for quite a while, then more direct, and now he's getting hammered because he has clearly shown his complete disdain for the quality of something he has control over for some unknown reason.
The fact that it's free is irrelevant. If someone's handing out free water bottles at the county fair and 80% of those who drink it get ptomaine poisoning you don't say, "What's the problem? It was free."
If you guys feel like pissing and moaning about me, by the way, I'll be live this weekend!
every time I've watched your streams I've enjoyed it. I hope you continue to stream tournaments.
I have a financial question though- if most of your streams are free, how do make money from this endeavor? I know you have sponsors, but is that enough?
I watched the POV pool stream in silence last night for quite some time. Nice stream, good pool being played. Then I inquired in chat about brackets. Daniel who had been chatting nonstop there for at least an hour gave me a link to a shaky video of the bracket board about 4 hours old. (That is still the most up to date info as I write this). I suggested politely that they should have a PDF of the bracket up because it makes the entire event much more enjoyable to follow. I was told by the still chatting Daniel that he has a "million things to do" and besides "the stream is free". I said that it's not that much work to do that if you already have a web site up and running and was told "enough talk about that". Then he went back to babbling about non pool related crap with his buddies. He could have built and posted a PDF in less time than he was spending there.
Right now on that stream there are still a lot of questions about who's left, who's playing who etc that there is no answer to be found. Sometimes free is just too expensive to waste one's time on. I will never understand why someone would spend their time with something as complex as streaming and accept a bad experience for the viewer because it's free for them to watch.

Look, I'm not hating on anyone. Let that be clear from the get-go.
But I get what the viewers are saying about not having quality commentary on the free live streams. Sometimes, when I play in an event and do commentary I even disgust myself. It's exhausting trying to play competitive pool in an event, do commentary, help with the live stream and hang out with your pool buddies. When you get tired, you don't do anything very well, except maybe sleep.
Live-Streamers (the guys that really do the heavy-lifting) setting up and maintaining the broadcast have so much to do, they really don't have time to do commentary. By the time they get finished setting up, they need a rest but instead they grind out commentary for the viewers and listeners.
If those who are so "vocal" about not having the kind of commentary that you would like to see, how about offering to PAY for the kind of commentary that you want to hear?
Just give the Live-Streamer a shout-out and tell them that you will help pay for some quality commentary. Seriously, if it is important to you, maybe you can chip in some decent money to bring in some quality commentary. I'm not shaking the trees for another gig at the moment so it's not for me.
Tell the Live-Streamer that you think his commentary sucks and that you are willing to pay good money to hear quality commentary. Some of the Live-Streamers can't afford to pay for quality commentary as it stands or they would already have it.
When telling the Live Streamer that their commentary sucks, at least be fair enough to them to tell them what a great job they do in providing the free live stream. Then, tell them who you would like to hear and tell them how much your favorite commentator should be paid. Be fair about that because the vast majority of pool commentators have other jobs/businesses that pay the majority of their bills.
So there you have it, instead of pissing and moaning about what wrong with the commentary that you hear, put your money where your mouth is. Contact any of the following live streamers and offer afinancial solution to their problem:

sorry if I left out your favorite live streamer but seriously, these guys need your financial help to bring you better commentary. Give them a call and ask them or tell them what you can offer to help them to bring you quality commentary. Don't be shy either. Tell them who you want to hear and who you don't want to hear doing commentary.
But before you make the call, think about what you think the commentator should be paid for their time and how much their expenses will be to do the commentary.
Guys like Big Truck, Alvin, Daniel, Lenny and others are working their nutz off, need your help. Tell them that you want to help them hire quality commentary and that you are willing to pay for it. If you want to provide your own personal commentary services for free, tell them so. They might put you on speed-dial.
The bottom line is the Live Streamers already have too much on their plate, are over-worked, under-paid, under-appreciated and can't afford to pay for the Billy Incardonas of the world on a regular basis. YOU CAN HELP FIX THE PROBLEM, SEND IN YOUR MONEY.

Some "brand-new member" joins today and slams the commentator from InsidePOOL, a free livestream.
I didn't hear the broadcast, but at least it was free. Not everybody can afford to pay for seasoned or experienced commentators for free livestreams, so it is what it is.
On a good note, be happy it was free and kept you up to date on the happenings.![]()
Who is more qualified here? A person who actually watched the stream, heard the commentary, or a person who did not watch the stream, but has been on forums for a longer time...
I have watched the stream, and the commentary was just TERRIBLE, i know it's free, yes, i do, but it's still disrespectfull toward the viewer, even though it's free...that's how bad it was...yawning, cellphone vibrating, shouting, chewing...almost a parody of "normal" commentary..
Join date means nothing, there are many prime examples of that, with constant off topic spam in many topics...
