Cool Johnston City clip....................

Anyone know the exact year this was video?

Shorty always did have two or three birds on the rail, talking, him smoking while playing....Shorty didn't like losing.

Max, this is the nuts. I loved seeing Danny D in his first of many primes, along with Ronnie Allen, Wimpy, etc.

Anyone have any idea of the exact year it first ran?

EDIT: Never mind, I see garczar's already answered the question.

Omaha Fats from Des Moines Iowa. Omaha Fats does flow a little better than Des Moines Fats.

I looked it up and it must be '69 as that was only year Wimpy took the 1p title. http://www.thehypertexts.com/Johnst...ent Winners and Player Profiles Billiards.htm

I was there then till it got raided/manila envelopes supplied by the treasury dept. with magic marker names and amounts on the top of each Large envelop. RA wasn't there, Rempe, he had all his money accounted for is what I heard. Also, heard a Fats story later, about court and the judge, maybe Bob Jewett can comment.

The raid was in '72. That must have been a tad exciting. On a side note, the building is still there as is the cue club building out back. It was a bar when i drove by in '07 but i thinks its now un-occupied. https://www.google.com/maps/@37.817...4!1sR9bgMnYkJXNU6dYXUcomAA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 Roof is new but its the same building.

Great

Great Video I have never seen footage of Johnston City. What a wonderful atmosphere for Pool.

I've noticed this before but I still find it quite interesting that players from that era shot with such upright stances- such a different stance than current players.

I'm glad to see Max Eberle is contributing something positive to history rather than conspiracy theories like a flat earth :D:grin::killingme:

Nice Charlie McKay with the best trick shot by a broadcaster 🤣

This is better...another contribution from Max on the Knoxville Bear. Over 2 hours long, one of the best interviews with road stories from the REAL legends, going back to the 30s and Greenleaf, Mosconi, et al. I was just surfing around, ready to go to bed and couldn't shut it off. The best road stories I've seen, stick it out to the end, he really has some great stories! :)

Thanks, very interesting. A couple of things I found interesting was Jim's comments. First about choice of pocket after the break, guess he wasn't that up to speed on the rules and second that one pocket players don't like to shoot banks.
