People has anyone else seen the lastest Asian copies of Meucci Cues being sold on eBay. They are all being sold by eBay Seller Carlscues, I have reported this guy to Meucci, hopefully they can do something about it.

Please don't support this Scum bag he is directly responsible for design theft. I have done a little checking with my suppliers and to my knowledge this guy is having the cues produced himself.

Below are some links to his actions, again please do not buy anything from this guy!!!!

You have my support. I happen to know what this feels like from a personal situation.
I sell Billiard FingerSlides on Ebay. They are Patent Pending and Trademarked. This is what PocketChalker is selling on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260462181170&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I guess Carlscues has joined the Scumbag Group also!!

Craig,
Your diligence is duly noted but this may be a 'stretch'.
The seller clearly states that these are not Meucci's.
It's blatantly obvious that these are knock-offs but so what? They're not even a decent knock-off.
His efforts may be in bad taste but I doubt Meucci would win any litigation.
Now if he used the Meucci logo or claimed that these were in fact Meuccis, then he'd have a problem.

Meucci Knock-offs

I wouldn't pay $29.99 for that cue if it was a Realmeucci
I won't buy any "Nottafullsplice" cues either

I do have some Nottacognoscenti cues for sale

Unfortunately, you cannot copyright a cue design as far as I can figure. I can check with out patent attorney to verify if someone wanted to copyright something 'solid'. Written word items can be copyrighted for free (for one year) just by adding the word "Copyright" and the year. I do this for a BMW engine swap manual I wrote and sell.

What CAN be done is a patent. A design patent is the direction I would go in; however, it typically covers the functional 'design' of something although some of the parts we have patented covers the appearance of the item as well- no one can make something that looks like our part or face a lawsuit.

Based on the cost to have a patent, there is no way that any cue maker could afford to patent a design, unless they made only one product/design.

Buyer Beware

why anyone would want to copy a meucci design, or buy a meucci knock off, or an honest to goodness meucci will remain a mystery to me...

brian

They're really close , interesting.

Sad thing is they are probably not any worse than a real meucci quality wise. :(

I can't stand knock-offs like these. The joke is actually on buyers who think they can get a $400 cue for $30, but I agree with your point about not giving this seller any business.

I also agree with not giving the seller, Carlscues, any business. His business and advertising practices are shady, ie charging extreme shipping fees for the smallest item like a cue ball, and shafts that claim to be early meucci shafts, claiming the products are 'like' Joss, Moori, Meucci, and gets away with it cause he does claim it is not Joss or Meucci or etc. and a majority of his products are of poor quality. Those that usually buy from him are new to the billiards world and fall for his advertising practices.

The guy has a section on the site for $25,000 Balabushkas, and then claims it is the cue from the CoM... Oh my.... But ofcourse he does properly claim that they are knock offs...

Too true, he's a fleabay scumbag of the first order.

Lower than a snakes A$$... sad but Meucci doesn't have a leg to stand on.

True, but we can still starve the guy to death.

I remember back when I was looking for a case I came across Carls Cues cases one eBay. I came close to getting one thinking what could it hurt, its only $50. Then I read a post from JB Cases telling stories of cheaper cue case that the bottoms would fall out and your $2000 cue would hit the ground. He never mentioned makers, but it was enough for me to not want to risk my cues with a cheaper case.
After reading what some have wrote, I am glad I never gave him any business.

buy american

I e-mailed Carlscues about a palmer look a like they had to ask if it was inlays or what and he stated the inlays were overlays but with the finish he said you could not tell it. What does he think people are blind or crazy.
Buy AMERICAN and keep our country going and our cuemakers working.

Wow! If you were going to produce a knockoff, why not a Joss or a McDermott? I've never played with a Meucci that I would even want to own.
