Custom cue maker needs opinions. I am the Web Admin for Joe Baker Custom Cues (www.joebakercustomcues.com). He is a cue builder here in Ohio that is making a name for himself in the custom cue world. What I would like is for someone to try one of his cues and give me a detailed revue/testimonial for me to put on his website. I have listed a description of the cue below and will let it go at a very low price if someone will simply give me their honest evaluation of the cue. PM me for a price, etc. The cue is brand new, never chalked.
58” 19oz. 4 Point Gabon Ebony and Curly Maple cue. 3/8-10 pin wood to wood joint.
Ebony points and butt sleeve. White with green Irish Linen wrap and a medium-hard Triangle tip.

I'd Give It A Shot. What Price Are We Talking. I Also Have A Bunch Of High Level Players Here That I Would Also Have Give It A Test Drive.

Beat ya to the PM, Marcus... :p

I'd be willing to review it, though it seems someone else has already got the spot. Looking forward to reading the full review.

I can tell you that aesthetically, I like the points to be alot tighter, especially on a non-veneered 4 pointer. I like them as deep and wide as possible, close to touching would be perfect.

And....

I agree, and sharper points too.

And some kind of Collar at the joint. Looks a bit odd. Put in some rings at the joint and I also agree with the wider points.

First PM was from Hunter.

Hunter has first dibs. I'll post if he accepts. If not, I'll go in the order in which everyone repsonded.
Thanks for all for the comments.

Damn, I could've used that. I'm currently cueless. I like it the way it is, but would prefer a stainless joint.

I think it'd be a great ideea for a cue maker to offer a cue to be passed around for lots of folks to try. Perhaps a refundable deposit and each person pays for shipping to the next...I am in.

Oh, nice cue BTW, classy!

I agree. I also think the cue maker should have a list of specific test/questions for the player/s.
If I built cues that is what I would want.

Others opinions are just that. We all have one but a wider variety would be much better. As an example one may like the shaft taper and says it hits stiff. While another doesn't care for that taper and it feels soft.

I've always thought a cue maker should list the specs on their cues. That would be what they normally use like shaft taper, joint diameter, butt diameter etc. I realize many will change some/those specs for the customer but if your just ordering/buying a cue sight unseen you may have no idea.

I wouldn't buy a cue on a single review. OK, back to the regular scheduled thread.

I am looking for a sponsor. I have a friend that is recognized as the best player in the state of North Carolina. He is trying to make a go of the tour. Of course there is only one small problem. There are no sponsors just stake horses for gambling. He has been itching to do this for 3 years but he has had a child that needed surgery and his funds are very minimum. I know he would use the cue and i am sure that he will make a statement using your cue.

double refund cue

the double refund cue is at this point making the rounds. it went from indiana to maryland, next stop washington. if you want to get on the list send me an address. keep your head down. chuck

I tried his cues...

...I bought a couple of cues from Joe some time back, as I do from many new cue builders. His cues showed great attention to detail. Excellent finish. They had a thinner butt and a solid, but soft, hit. I think that whoever tries out this cue will be surprised at how well they play. I sold one of the cues to a friend who is very knowledgable about cues, and he made it his daily player.
