I am very happy to now report that the water damage that occurred in my rec room and on my cobrasized GC1 has finally turned into the proverbial "when life hands you lemons, make lemonade." :)

Right after this happened, I called Glen RKC for advice on what to do with the wet table and his response was, "I'm in VA, I'll be there Tuesday - I got you covered." And he did! Glen got my table back to perfect and I owe him both a big debt of gratitude and a small apology. So, first, Thank You Glen! You are the man! . . . and a good friend!

Since I was getting heat from a lot of you over my tan Simonis and was actually already thinking of changing the cloth color, I did decide to go with tourney blue. I had this color before, however, and it conflicted with the aqua table so Glen suggested that we change it while we had it all apart, easier to paint and all. Wanting to stay faithful to the 4 original GC colors (aqua, orange, gold, white) I decided on gold. Glen busted his behind (what else is new?) sanding every apron down to bare wood and painting them gold. I did the relatively much easier cue rack. Well, long story short, after looking at it for about a week before the construction began, it wasn't doing it for me. So, sorry Glen, for all of your effort in turning it gold - it's tangerine now. And who knows, that may change soon, too.

Aside from the cloth and table color changes, the "lemonade" achieved consists of the removal of the lally columns (of course), a new Diamond light installed by RKC (incredible difference), 20 all new led recessed can lights in the ceiling (installed just last night so not pictured but definitely recommended), a built in niche/bookshelf on the previously damaged wall, the elimination of a large shelf that formerly held a big dlp tv in favor of the new wall mount tv and accompanying much-sleeker electronics shelf, a fresh coat of paint, and we're finally now ready to Rack 'em up!

To say this ordeal has been a tester would be putting it mildly but the decision to make the best of a bad situation and to go all in to lose the lally columns was a good decision, indeed.

Thanks to you guys for all of the supportive and funny comments along the way. It really helped!

I know if any group of people could relate to all of this, it would be my friends here on az.

And a perfect way to open up the new and improved room was being able to host an az buddy Tuesday night who was back east visiting family. It was a real pleasure meeting up with you and hitting some balls, Berko. Looking forward to when you can make it back this way again.

Best,
brian kc

Very nice. I like the new room alot. The new shelving is a big improvement. I felt bad for you when all this happened, it's nice to see that is has turned out for the better.

Congrats on you *new* room!

Love that you have those nice cases as decoration on the shelves and your theater seats. Berko looked cute, too! Glad it all worked out for you, the room looks great.

You know what KC, if I was going to change anything I think it would be to put the theater seat on a raised platform. Maybe a foot or so. That way when you people are sitting there watching the match they will be looking at the table in a downward angle instead of trying to peak over the table.

It's still better than mine though!

very nice room:)
we want to see pics of the cues your guests get to use:grin:

The room looks great.

I like the tangerine. Was that not one of the early GC color schemes?

Does the table still play level? I recall that you had to put it on casters to move it during reconstruction, after RKC recovered it in the tournament blue.

Looks like you have wall space available for additional GC wall racks. Is the Brunswick medallion you posted about for the table or for a wall rack?

Wow. What a room! and what a table!

With this major remodel finished-maybe time to go fishing.

Enjoy, and take care

Hi Bill and thanks!

Yes, the gc1 came in 4 colors - aqua, white, gold, and tangerine.

And you would be a good detective - yes, the brunswick medalion wanted that I posted is for my wall rack because I have 2 more on the way and those cue racks have the medallion.

funny you should mention fishing, I've been telling friends that I have some to catch up on.

thx for the kind words guys.

and hell yeah, Dave, Berko is really cute. :grin-square:

funny thing he told me. he said his family was getting on to him about his going out on an "internet date" to play pool with someone he he's never met before.

he said they figured he might get raped or worse. I told him "the night's still young."

All kidding aside, it was a pleasure to have him over to play. We managed some 9 ball and a little 1p.

best,
brian kc

Its been a long time since I've been described as cute, but raped is a fair discriptor of what happened to me in our sets of 9ball and 1p.

Been following this thread for a while, what a comeback!

The colors are working good, looks better than before although I liked the camel, but the blue with the new paint really sets it off:smile:.

Tangerine!!!???...I thought I turned the skirts GOLD...am I losing my mind or what?

Hi Chris;

I like that idea. :) The process of reinstalling these seats was a bit of a pain. Red head concrete fasteners through the carpet and into the concrete requires taking a number of the seats apart to access the mounting holes.

I think I'll be waiting a little while before entertaining the thought of any more construction in the house.

The quiet is so appreciated.
