for anyone providing harsh commentary on Danny D's commentary, please take a minute to watch the following video and get to know this living legend perhaps a little better:
https://youtu.be/mSgfvJhQ6zw?t=561
When I watch matches that feature Danny in the booth, I consider the man in total, what he's accomplished in his life and what he has meant to our sport, in particular.
Aside from his many athletic and pool accomplishments, I find it truly amazing that a man travelling in the circles he has has never uttered a single swear word. How did he manage that? :grin-square:
I remember listening to him in the booth at Turning Stone a few years ago and he invited *anyone* who wanted a lesson to call his home room in Buffalo and he would be happy to do it for free. This was a sincere offer.
It's not been a well kept secret that if Danny was your friend then you had a true and loyal friend for life.
Try to think of Danny's age and all he's accomplished the next time he cracks one of his jokes you've heard twenty times before, or if he mis-calls an upcoming shot.
I, for one, have enormous respect and admiration for him and am delighted that he's still able to make it to some of these events, let alone provide some commentary.
Also, not lost on me is the loyalty displayed by Pat Fleming toward Danny. Old school, good friends, I really like it.
best,
brian kc
