Beloved pool hall owner, pool player / gambler Danny Sheya, driving back from
Salt Lake City skidded into Clear Creek, and died.
I don't have any actual details, but Danny was my favorite room owner of all time,
and one of my favorite people.

The old Table Steaks was a wild place, especially after 2:00 am.
I remember one night as Danny was having somebody physically removed, he
looked at me at said "there's nothing you could do to get kicked out of here".
I just loved the guy, and if anybody has been around him while he is gambling at
pool, you know that money couldn't buy that kind of entertainment, and nobody
could run a pool room like Danny.

RIP Danny Sheya

Sorry to hear and my condolences.

I never met the man but have been to the TS's near Denver before. It was a nice place.

Very sad to hear... my condolences to his family and friends.

And I hope everyone here takes extra care and has a safe holiday season.. the pool community has already lost too many good people this year.

I'm very sad to hear that. I remember him from before the table steaks days when he delivered soda pop. He would show up and hang out for a while and just have a good quick chat every week. I have always known him as "Danny Bear" from Shea Bothers distributing. After he opened Table Steaks in Edgewater I came in with a really sweet one of a kind Ray Schuler cue to show off. He went into a moment of silence and told me all about it. He had designed it and had Ray build it. For whatever reason funds became short and he told Ray to go ahead and sell it. I loved that cue! It was more than he could stand and he offered me a hell of a profit. But.. I kept it for many years until someone apparently wanted it more than I did :( I haven't sen him since I don't know when. But I sure do miss him now.

Sorry

Sorry to here about a friend of the Pool World. My condolences to the family.

Terrible news. I will have his family, loved ones and friends in my thoughts and prayers.

Denver Open seventies and eighties Colfax Billiards. Danny, along with Frank Burgess....was instrumental in running the best rooms in CO. He also bought out and unsuccessful new Sticks here in town and made it rock, sold it twice and bought it back another two times. Also, was key owner in the place called Table Steaks in Denver/Edgewater, right up the street from the old Colfax Billiards. In their prime, they had a wait list at four AM and the room had thirty plus tables.

Danny always made me laugh and others LAUGH, Always

About twenty years ago he fell in love with his White Cockatoo/Baretta Bird and they became inseparable. The bird learned pool room talk Dannys way.

THE RIDE, Danny's new Cadillac, the bird owned the car and totally ghettoed the interior. Perched on the top of the seat, he shredded two thirds of the front seat, Danny didn't care....and so ten years after Danny first got his bird, I renamed him Big Bird, he looked just like the Cockatoo, short, stocky and HIM. Man that's two this past week....:(

I'm so lucky to have known this man, and his smile was the light in a dark pool room. To his family, I'm saddened for your loss, but fortunate to of been his ''friend''. I hope his bird wasn't with him, tho probably was :frown:

Meach, these are kind words.

I have plenty to add about how much fun Danny was AND smart that cockatoo is.
I have at least a half-dozen stories that involved this guy and his behavior; my favorites being his 1st match-up with Truckdriver Frank Z, Denny Dale losing it with the customers at Sticks and Danny eating my Easter candy.

I think I'll have subscribe to this thread and add later.
