Dave Sutton Refunded Me

Great news, Chris. Dave will have to rebuild his credibility, which will take a while, but it sounds like he is willing to try. If he's willing to try, I'm willing to listen, but I may not buy anything from him for a long time.

One thing I've always done is give the buyer/seller a chance to back out of a deal after receiving an item. I in turn have the same opportunity with what I receive . Buying site unseen (just seeing pic's) is a tricky business and to do this well you need to give a bit more lea way . Just because you've made a deal over the phone doesn't mean the deal is done . If we all treated each other like friends instead of potental fish this would be a whole lot better place !!

That's Great News

I'm glad it worked out OK for Chris and that Dave took the opportunity to do the right thing.

Chris Tate acted like a gentleman throughout, posted a video to YouTube that was genius and completely exhibited and validated his complaint. He never "kicked" Dave when he "had him down". Tate obviously deserves the flawless reputation and support he has in this community. Chris had a mob of 100 supporters behind him and never became a bully. Kudos to Chris Tate.

I imagine that Dave missed the wobble somehow (lack of care is not fraud) and got on the defensive and I'm sure we all know from experience, from there it can go badly. I wonder how much effect the moderator giving Dave a "cooling-off" period had on Dave being able to do the thinking required to come to the right decision (instead of taking the natural reaction and spending his time arguing with people that were attacking him)? Kudos to the AZ moderator, I think his action had a positive effect.

I'll be interested to see Dave Sutton's comments when he returns.

This AZ is really a unique place isn't it?

Kevin

Chris,

I am glad your situation was resolved. And I personally will give Dave Sutton, upon a sincere apology to the AZ Forum and its members, a chance to prove his worth in the future.

P.s. Deal went south on the Titlist cues. I offered $3200 and they wanted $6400.00 and would not budge. I keep on the lookout for another Carom King.

I feel all smushy inside!

I signed on to the computer and saw a paypal refund from Dave Sutton. I also got an e-mail asking me to call him.

Dave and I had a nice long talk, probably over an hour. He said he would have worked things out, but I didn't give him a chance to contact Jose or anything, which he felt obligated to do. He insisted that they would have done the right thing. He is still baffled about the extreme amount of warp in the cue.

When Dave comes back in a week, I am asking everyone to at least give him a chance to prove himself and make things right. He is a young man who is still on a learning curve. Hey, been there, done that, right?

Let's see what kind of heart we can all muster to give him a second chance if he returns with a good attitude.

Chris

Glad you guys worked things out.:). It shows the power of the forum and the will of good folks to get along.

Good to hear. Last time I bought a cue that turned out to be warped the seller blamed my pool table. His exact quote was 'dont buy a pool table at WalMart' with the expletives deleted. Live and Learn

..ends well. Glad you were able to work it out, and get your refund. You handled the entire episode with dignity, and applied only well deserved pressure to help bring the transaction to an eventually satisfactory end. I understand how Dave feels, he did end up doing the right thing, and I will move him on my barometer from negative infinity up closer to zero.

If he stays with the Forum, he will find it useful for personal growth as well as a place to transact wares. The forum again demonstated its unique power of influence that helped this one along.

God job, Chris.

Take care,

Will :) :)  :o :p :p

That's brilliant news Chris, I'm really glad that you guys got it sorted and also I want to say hats off to Dave for refunding Chris, and I'm going to be giving him some rep points, simply for doing the right thing and I hope that this will be the first and last time, that any mishaps come up like this :)

Like Chris has said, let's all give Dave a 2nd chance to prove himself, after all, we're all human :)

Great news once again and I'm glad that it has ended well :)

good job Dave!!

Good job Dave on making things right! Obviously there's hope on you becoming a trusted member of AZB yet...Anyways, I wanted to say Good Job and let you know you did the right thing by refunding the money to the unhappy buyer! Take care sir, Jeff

Good news all around

This is probably the best news/post I've seen for a while and gives me hope for more like this.
Sounds like both of you handled this well and the outcome seems to be the best there could be.
Applause, Applause.

well its 8 am and im back. let me first start out by saying im sorry for anything i said that was out of line. if you were in my position you might be a little angry too.

it never was my intention not to refund chris. i told him i would make it right. as u know i had 2 options. full or partial refund. this is the reason i had to contact the owner. he might not want to take a hit and just might want the cue back. either way chris was getting a refund.

hopefully all can learn from this. you all were a little fast to call someone a thief or a scumbag. ive never screwed anyone over in my life. after chris recieved the cue thursday emailed me at 4:30 I replied and by 5 pm (30 mins later) this thread was 2 pages long.
chris did recieve his refund by saturday same time. thats pretty fast i think.

the thing that upsets me the most is the fact that the 20 or so deals i have made on here not 1 of them ppl said anything in that thread. with all the cursing and calling me names I was the only one to take time off but thats ok. thanks wilson

there is no hard feelings between chris and i. we had a few great talks and will deal again in the future

Young and on a learning curve is highly pertinant!!

It took a LONG time for me to become a person I can somewhat respect. My emotions frequently called the shots instead of my values. Too passionate. Great outcome to this situation. The vast majority of us are good people... once we get past the emotions and the pecker contests :)
