yeah, but you have to be careful...Matlock is the original bite artist. This is not a slam on Dave...but anybody who knows him at all, knows this.:D

I have been around David probably 100 times and he has never asked me or anyone else I know for a nickel. Not sure where this came from or if it is a hidden joke I am not understanding??

Not sure I understand the meaning of this post. I have known David for serveral years and I am not aware of him ever putting a bite on someone. I will say that a few friends of mine have had lessons from him and I would caution any novice player against it, if you are already a strong B or A player there is a lot to be learned from David.

Take Care

Like Watchez and Thecoats, I never heard this about him either. I do know that he spent his DCC winnings on his family instead of blowing it afterwards on more gambling.

Some pro's can't go to sleep at night if they still have a $ in their pocket, that's how addicted they are to action. Matlock is way more family oriented than to be out acting like a bum.

Scott, I think the term "original bite artist" conjurs up images of somebody else we all know, not Matlock.

Scott, as usual I see jealousy in your remark , It seems every time someone gets lessons from anyone other than you , You tend to bash that person giving the lessons.

Next time just bite your tongue or better yet your fingers!

P.S. Daves the best for lessons , especially advanced lessons.

I can't stand by and listen to this BS ..... There is nothing to be said ...... IMO .... Negative, about David .......... Maybe this was a joke, or I misunderstood the comment. David is nothing but a Stand Up Guy!

Thank you all for your feedback! I consider myself a strong B player and I feel even better about pursuing David after the multiple comments about his "advanced" lessons. I will definitely let you all know how the lessons go!

I'm confused. I played golf with David, spent time watching him practice and talking to him as he practiced, hung out at tourneys with him, etc...

Even though he knew I was making a good living at the time he never tried to borrow anything from me and in fact, I think I tried to buy him lunch once and he refused and bought his own lunch.

So either I don't know what the term 'bite artist' means or else I have the wrong David Matlock.

For advanced lessons, you can learn a lot from him.

Ain't this the truth. David is no perfect angel like the rest of us, but he is a good guy and been around a long time. I agree with you, this is utter bulllshit but he never has anything to anyone he can't teach anything.

There are 3 or 4 of them that sit on AZ ready to pounce on anyone that says "lesson" or asks "does so and so pro teach". Gets old after awhile. Johnnyt

Particularly when it is obvious they don't know what they are talking about.

Honestly though, I get hot at myself for even responding to BS like that.

I see Dave just about every week. He's always friendly and approachable, and ALWAYS willing to provide help to anyone who asks it of him. He and his wife Peggy have always treated me well. Matter of fact... I'm sitting in the pool hall with Dave a while back, and he's telling me about their plans for Christmas & explaining the secret of his favorite spaghetti sauce!!
Then, of course, he can still step to the table & cut your heart out. One thing I know for sure, you won't see Dave on here making an ass of himself involved in some nit pick crap.

Funny how he has yet to say anything else....now I see why MUDBALL didnt ask for lessons from Mr. Lee...good luck with your future lessons from Dave Matlock

I haven't responded, because I wasn't on here. Since I was talking about borrowing $$$, and not one thing about teaching anybody anything, I will respond to that only. My sincere apologies to Mr. Matlock, since this was the wrong person. It was another pro player from that area I was referring to...NOT David Matlock. Again...my mistake, and my bad.

nice save....

I'm really not trying to stir the pot here but it seems a little far fetched to confuse a legend like Matlock with ANYONE no matter where they live.

Maybe I'm missing something from your explanation Scott. Although I'm not sure how you confuse a guys name with his geography. . Laying the bite down is an art form that some well known gamblers have mastered and if you had mentioned one of them, no one would argue. I'm sure you meant no harm and your apology was excepted by David, but someone with your reputation should be careful when making such statements in such a public forum IMO He may get back at you by asking you to play a little:eek:

no hard feelings,
