Derby 2011 TAR Studio and VIP Action Room. Trying something new this year.

Its that time of year again. Derby is right around the corner. This year TAR is going to try something different from past years. Running 24 hours a day in the past has killed us and lets face it at 9 am when its two guys playing $20 one pocket its not really doing much for anyone. This year instead of the 24 hour thing we are going to try a new concept.

We will have a room with two tables in it. One nine foot and one bar box. It will be set up with lights, cameras and mics. We will be able to control entry to the room which means there might be a door charge if/when we organize some matches onsite. Seating will be limited. This is on purpose. Many times players have complained about playing for large numbers only to have Timmy Heath screaming at the top of lungs in a goofy hat on the next table or a random drunk guy bump his elbow when down on a shot.

Our goal with this concept is to provide a top shelf venue and atmosphere for the high end action players and backers. We will provide the nicest arena possible for them and I believe once they see what it's like the only problem will be scheduling the use of the tables. For anyone who saw what the TAR Pit was like at the BCAPL nationals a couple of years ago we are going for that vibe on smaller scale.

We will also be using the room as a studio set up. We will be doing interviews, maybe some instructional things and many updates on what is happening at the Derby. Anyone who is interested in having something filmed is welcome to contact me and we can try to work it out. We will have a three camera set up with live titling, overlays and mixing available as well as wireless mics and all the gear needed to do about anything.

All the streaming will be free. If we set something big up on site we may do a PPV. If anyone is interested in sponsoring the free portion of the stream please contact me. Last year according to Ustream's numbers we had 354,029 total views over the course of the event.

If you are at Derby this year please come by and check out our room and say hello. We'll have some new shirts and new DVD release's with us as well. If you cant make it in person come hang out with us online for the greatest pool show on earth: the Derby City Classic.

Glad to hear this Justin! Looking forward to it. Sounds like an awesome part of a great event.

Great idea Justin. I should be going so it will be fun to hang out and sweat the action when I cant sleep at night.

I'm more than happy to pay for access to streams of the great money matches, they are much more interesting to watch than the tournament matches (though both are great)

Excellent idea, your are definitely heading in the right direction and taking the pool world with you. Your efforts can single single handedly change the game. Hope all go's well. thanks in advance.

Awesome to hear that you guys will be making it back to DCC this year. I've really enjoyed the coverage in the past, and it seems like the venue you're putting together could be fantastic.

I'd like to throw you guys a few $$$ as a thank you for the past & upcoming coverage. In the past, there was a Paypal link on the website, but I don't see anything now. Where can I send something?

Sounds great Justin. TAR always supplies the best outlet for action at the Derby. I will see you there, as for me I will be shooting video again of the 14.1 with DMGWalsh and Marop.

Great concept, Justin. I hope it works out and is successful. Will this eliminate the issues of the streaming be shut down because of the gambling last year? Ihope so.

Again, good luck with the new concept. You are such an innovator! :)

Although not noted in the poster, Dave and myself (Runout Media) will be working full time with Justin in an effort to make this event as awesome as possible. Neither of us have been to Derby before, so this should be a treat for both of us.

The Derby is the best. I love hearing people are coming for the first time. It is my favorite pool week of the year.
