Ding, Ding, Ding ........ warning bells went off for good reason.

can't knock Oklahoma!

Oklahoma has some dang good biscuits and gravy! I imagine my wife's will be the death of me...if second hand smoke doesn't get me first!

I have been to or through Oklahoma dozens of times. Good people and good groceries for the most part. Was a bit of a mistake when my partner asked for grits in a little cafe though! I decided if they were cooking grits I would have some too. Knew we were in trouble when I overheard the cook asking the owner how to make grits. Not a thing wrong with their biscuits and gravy, most food though.

"look me up. I'll be with an Iowa City team."

ROFL, I can see it now at a state tournament. someone yelling at the top of their lungs TREVOR, TREVOR FROM AZB, would TREVOR from the Iowa City Team please report to the scorers table and 100 camera phones come out all at once to start taking pictures.

I'm from Iowa, but I don't want to look you up, because:

1) You said you're broke, so what could I win.
and
2) You'd post my description all over here after I beat you out of a few games

Thanks jingle. I was definitely not trying to knock any action, just thought it made for a good story some of y'all might enjoy.

I see you're from Iowa. You going to Valley or ISPA? If so, look me up. I'll be with an Iowa City team.

You say he is a tall guy with a belt buckle, and he drove a truck?

Man I think I know that guy. Did he have brown hair and does he have a cousin named Bill?

Who cares if he described some trucker. There are a million tall, skinny truckers out there who shoot pool.

Let the guy have his moment and thrill knowing he dodged a bullet.

does the road player begrudge the dentist who put in his dues and can now charge $400 for 60 min of work? or the doctor or lawyer?

Im just saying these people also "rob" people but only because they have put in their dues and done the work necessary to get there. The road player is no different imo. Just a different line of work. I dont knock him and while I might not like getting hit with his bill anymore than the bill i get for a root canal, it doesnt mean he is not deserving of respect for his mastery over his craft.

Seriously? Your comparing a guy who is a doctor and has spent untold money for those skills to a guy who lie's about his speed and intentionally misses balls so he can rob you of your money? haha wow that's just about the dumbest comparison I've ever read!! Where is a dentist lying about what he can do or his skills? Not even close to being the same haha

I don't know i've been to some pretty bad dentists who would have been better working in some communist torture camps and yet they never told me they were bad before hand....lol.

Sorry, we're going to have to disagree here. The dentist is offering a service and a benefit to the patient. Both get something positive from the arrangement.

Now if the dentist was a fly by night hack that had an impressive waiting room to put you at ease, but then showed up in the suite after you've been shot full of novacaine with a bottle of Jack and blood in his hair huffing NOs.

You needed the root canal. The mark getting hustled looking for an honest game doesn't need to get fleeced.

A con man plays on greed or ego. Playing on these weaknesses is essential to winning. That's just immoral.

Not broke........have my $$$ saved up for the state tourneys so I'll have a little extra for side games tommy, so please look me up and we'll see who gets up a few games. After it's all said and done your description might be the least of your worries.

On a side note: It's always fun to watch all the different directions posts take sometimes. This post has branched out in a few different directions that I never saw coming, especially all the biscuits and gravy talk ........ just makes me hungry. :)

Glad y'all got to have some fun with my original post.

Off to Meskwaki Casino for the 8-ball tournament this weekend, wish me luck, I might need it since I know of at least a few players that will be there that are of Master level who will be trying to play under the radar so to speak.

Actually I am a CPA who is working right now. I am hopeing to get home while there is some daylight left so I can take the boat out for a sunset cruise.

I don't have a home on Tampa Bay and a boat with twins from playing pool.

My guess is that you are not an FBI profiler, you just play one on the internet!:p

You got me....I did have half of it right though.....You never said anything about your pool game, so it must be bad.

The guy might be a hustler but he wasn't working at it last night. First sign, asking who the best player was and then playing him. Most hustlers wouldn't ask and if they did they certainly wouldn't play him first.
Ditto.

I'd say the guy you shot with is a pretty good guy that is on the road and enjoys shooting pool.

Sounds like he was just looking for light action. I'd say he was a guy probably my speed (somewhere around an H or J player on the A-D scale). I lie like him too about $100 games after playing for $5/gm and getting refused at $20 a game.

Freddie <~~~ can lie like the best of 'em

It's been a couple years since I last saw the trucker come through Tucson. Your OP describes him about the same. Of course there is probably 1 thousand guys fitting that desription.

One of my teammates and closest playing friend owns a trucking business. I've heard him called a hustler. No cowboy hat though. Hmmm... maybe he dons one when he's on the road? Nah...

im not quite sure why you decided to crack a joke at Julie's expense. Shes a extremely nice person. Not sure if you know her personally enough to bang a zinger at her expense. Poor show imo...to each their own...

I was just poking fun...I make fun of myself all the time about my height, being italian, or whatever...no big deal. I edited my post to remove it.

Can you provide pics?

That's why hustling is dead, because of knockers like you.

I tend to think the only knocker was the truck driver. I mean, he got caught, he exposed himself.

And if some local league type player can sniff this guy out, what chance does this truck driver hustler really have ? just saying..

And of course, this is assuming he was a hustler to begin with... And if he was NOT, there certainly cannot be any knocking going on anyways :).

Trevor, I'll be there, too. I don't think we've met so if you find me, please introduce yourself.

There's a list on the drpool site about who isn't suppossed to be playing. There's even a list of who cannot be on the property during the tournament! I wonder what those guys did to deserve that?

I saw the black list too and I wondered about that a little myself.

Love to meet another fellow AZ'er from Iowa.

I'll be easy to spot with my white nike ball cap (with blue chalk on the bill) and black nike shirt and carrying a black/gold (hawkeye colors) case. Say hey if ya see me! Maybe play a few games as well sometime during the weekend.

I'm interested to see how this handicap system will work out.

What is the format? I couldn't find any info as to the races or when it's over, etc., much less any handicap system.

I'll have my hair in a ponytail, as I'm regressing back to becoming a hippie again. I play with a SP Predator. Look for me on the left side of the bracket.:p

Those of us not into the sleazy hustler sub culture have no honor owed to those on the road trying to steal our wages. You see we don't really care if these guys ever get action from us or any other "fish" or not. I wish he would have posted a picture of him and his real name. Well at least this one appears to have had to get a real job to eat although he is thin by all accounts. DING DING, reality check!!

Did not sound like he had a gun or knife so how do you think he was stealing someones wages. I expect you are not much of a gambler yourself not to make it personal. Usually the hustle works because the mark (weak home player) thinks he is doing the robbing write up till he is robbed. This guy sounds nothing like a hustler more like someone who can play a little and has a traveling job and trying to make a game. There is nothing wrong with making some side cash while traveling and myself I wish the trucker safe journeys and good action.

Now as to knocking I feel that minnows can communicate and protect themselves because the sharks shared info for the last 50 years trading spots and marks so why not share info. I think it is only fair and if it kills the hustling then maybe the better move is to come in and challenge the town give up fair weight and outrun the nuts. Bartram just did that recently in Indy everyone knew who he was, he made a game giving monster weight, he outran the nuts and took down the cash. Thats how you do it these days.
