If you're seriously asking why people put good descriptions of the cues they're trying to sell, then I don't know what to say, lol.

Yeah I love reading that stuff.... "John doe cue, hits a ton, its a world beater and I'm looking took trade it for anything and I'll add cash" (grin)

Ex wife gave me a Meucci about 12 years ago for Christmas. What a POS this thing was. Both shafts warped in record time and both ferules split. Then the plastic at the joint of the butt split. Imagine if I had ever broke with it? It also hit like shit, the shafts were all sproingy like a wet noodle. It was hard to get caught playing pool with my "gift" still on the wall. Finally I admitted I hated it and she promptly left me for a security guard. I don't miss her or the cue.

now thats a story i could beleive;)

I whittle cues out of old broomsticks. I can't do inlays yet so I just do a little decorative work with an old soldering iron. My wraps are made of whatever animal I find dead on the road.....squirrel is the most predominate with the occasional coon or possum skin used on custom orders. My cues hit like $hit and smell like a rotting carcass ( don't know how to tan the various skins).....wait time for one of these beautys is a mere 3 weeks.......Dan

you know the 95 point cue is real good but there is a reason its not a 100
just sayin

Yeah, the ones you might buy in a big chain department store.

They just don't feel good when you hit the cueball with them. Ughh...

.

if you are asking why people don't bash the sellers cue it is because it is against the forum rules.

If you are asking why the seller doesn't say it is crap is obvious, no one would buy it.

It always seems strange that they are selling the best cue they ever had, seen, played with and etc especially when they say the pnly reason for selling is they need the money for a different cue. If it is so great why get rid of it and why do you want or need to try a different cue?

I also like it when the title says priced to sell and it hangs around forever with no buyer. Apparently it isn't priced to sell.

i just left the for sale section. i see you said what i was thinking almost word for word.

Dude have you ever met a car salesman? If sounds to good to be true you can bet it is.

But people also love to talk, and even if they do not know for certain how a cue is they will always help a buddy out.

that's one wart i wouldn't want cut off;)
while it's probably true that even the best cuemakers have probably put out a cue they wished they wouldn't have at one point in their careers, i don't think it would substantiate a general consensus of the quality of work that leaves their shop. the best of the best have maintained their reputations for a very good reason, and that is not letting a cue go out that they're not 100% happy with. if you do some research, you'll find that with collectors, cuemakers whom don't exercise a high level of quality control, will receive a tarnished reputation in return, that will directly reflect on the amount of orders they receive.

what people advertise is irrelevant. in the end it is the consumers responsiblility to do their own research on whether a product will suit their needs, or meet their expectations of quality and craftsmanship. those who succumb to the "hit's a ton" or "monster player" without doing their own due diligence in the form of research, will get what's coming to them.

cues

if you are worried about buying a cue
first find a dealer who does returns. < this usally means they sale a good cue>
2nd ask run a thread asking people about the cue and the dealer.
if either cue or the dealer dont have high ratings pass the deal up.

if the dealer has a return policey and you dont like the cue send it back.
you dont have to dislike each other to return a cue.

people who sale cues dont last if no one likes their cues.

there are many trust worthy people selling all kinds of cues.

yes there are some cues that are not worth shipping.
but how much you are spending and what do you expect for your dollar.
you can buy safe just ask other azers
good luck

Hey, I won a new Jeff Eason cue from Mr. Eason here in a raffle. I paid $20. It is crooked together and apart. It looks horrible, feels horrible and plays like a piece of wet spaghetti. How's that for honesty?

BTW its for sale for $10 b/c it "hits like a ton".:thumbup::D

It's funny, all the good players I see play with productions, almost exclusively Predators.
All the bad players I see play with high end customs.

All the gear, no idea.
