Does your cue see the outdoors?

Sometimes I take my cue outside when I am taking a smoke break and it always feels awkward. A cue belongs inside. It feels like walking outside naked.

Does anyone ever let their cue see daylight? I cringe when I pictures of cues being taken outdoors.

I like to compare it as a vampire...always hidden in the case and brought out away from sunlight.

Man, you got to watch those things...Mine drew blood and quickly sucked the lid back on the case just the other day! :grin-square:

I like to look at my cues sometimes in direct sunlight. It really shows the details and nuances of the wood...but only if it isn't super hot and humid out...

I guess my fear comes from wood being able to warp and glue melting....a cue belongs inside and when it's not, it's in a case...lol

I didn't recognize some guys in the afternoon yesterday, so brought it with me outside for a smoke break. Tried to find shade because I didn't want direct sunlight on it.

Call me crazy.

Sunlight won't hurt hit, heck, half the guys today are using UV finishes.

But you certainly don't want to going from A/C , getting all hot and then back into the A/C ina hurry. I supposed prolonged UV might turn the colors of veneers and such. I know a few guys that would leave thier guitars in view of a window to get it turn an 'old timey' color. :)

I put my cues on the front seat of my car, buckled up of course(click it or ticket)and take them for quiet rides in the Rocky mountains. They come back relaxed and refreshed ready to play.

The cues that I am not on speaking terms with get used as tomato stakes in the summer until they have learned their lesson.

Yes we have tomatoes in Canada. Our growing season is 8 to 10 weeks. The rest of the time we get the bulk of our produce from Cali.

We like to say that we have 11 months of winter and 4 weeks of poor skating weather. Middle of June and it may as well be fall. I haven't plated my Harley yet, waste of money.

And we get our designer water from Denver. Hey Bruce, I was going to mention, you guys invented a great sandwich, the Denver. I will forever be in debt.

Who'd a thunk? :)

The other day, down here in South Florida...former tomato capital of the world....bought some "imported from Canada" tomatoes in the local supermarket.

Next....Hank's water, imported from Denver.

Globalism!

Hank is a marketing whiz. He does not turn the air conditioning on during the summer. So when it gets real hot inside he sells more water.

My cue doesn't see the outdoors much, but it does see the bathroom quite a bit.

If I'm taking a break that has me going outside I will usually put my cue in the case and take it out that way. Not a UV thing so much as it is just a more convenient/protective way to hold my cue when I'm outside.

BTW, during a tournament I'm not a big fan of cig breaks. There's so much down time between matches there's no reason to need a cigarette in the middle of a race to 7. You're not doing the TD nor the rest of the players any favors by slowing down the event for that.

My cues prefer pina coladas and long walks on the beach.
Since this is Colorado and we don't have a beach, even my best cues will have to settle for Hank's Water and no air conditioning.

no worries there.

I only smoke after a match and if I have a match right away then I will play.

There's no smokers around here would dare to smoke in a middle of a match. That is a No-no.
